Drive both. Dad's Volvo has a 4-speed auto, my own Toyota a 5-speed manual.

I prefer manual. 8)

I drive a manual, wouldn't drive an automatic I don't think.

Things like DSG and SMG are very nice though. I could see myself driving a car that had either of those.

I still think a manual car with a good SSK and a good clutch is more fun though.

I drive a 6 sp. VW GTI. My previous car was a 5 sp. Honda Integra.

The thing about this forum is that most people who visit are car enthusiasts... more likely to drive a manual than an auto. There are also people who drive cars that don't come in manual, such as a Hummer H2 or whatnot.

US and Canada are the same I supposed. I'd say 15% of the cars on the road here are manual.

As mentioned before in North America automatics are much more prevalent, and getting a manual gear box while not difficult can be annoying depending on the selection the dealer has.

I'm currently on an automatic, but I'm looking into getting a new car and would very much like to get into driving manuals for various reasons, specifically to be a "driver" and not just a "commuter". I live in a moderately large city where there is occasional heavy traffic, but nothing to bad so I don't think I'll have a problem dealing with manual shifting annoyances.

I haven't owned a stick car since I moved to the States some 17 years ago. I liked autos initially cause they were different, especially the column mounted ones. Whacky idea images/smilies/smile.gif

Nowadays I often think it would be cool to drive a manual, especially if in some smaller, nimble car. I also miss being more involved in the whole driving thing.

In the end however, though I enjoy driving, I drive because I have to and don't recall when was the last time I took a car for "a spin". Autos are pretty lame, but they do suit me just fine.

Few years ago I drove a manual in NYC for ~7 months, and hated every minute of it. Maybe if I lived in some more driver friendly place...

Yep, I'm stuck with a Slushbox 4spd Auto.

Thankfully it isn't a stock car anymore, so I don't have the same wussy shifts like I had when I got it.

I'd like to get a Manual, but I honestly need a bit more practice with one to be good at it.
