Blue supercar in Lancashire?

This is a real longshot - so I'm driving in the Trough of Bowland this afternoon and I have to slow down so this car and I can pass, and it's out of this world. Bright blue, hints of F1 styling, clearly £100,000+ worth, being driven VERY carefully; never seen anything like it. Husband says Zonda but I've looked at photos and I don't think it was.

Odd thing is that it was within half a mile of where Rowan Atkinson had his little supercar embarrassment a couple of years ago - he was on the A6 just south of Lancaster, this was just off the A6 in the same area. Are there a lot of very rich drivers in that area? Or could Rowan be visiting again?

Hmm... blue? F1-ish?

Mazzer MC12?

Are they even road legal in the UK?

Certainly very similar to that, though possibly slightly less smooth lines. Sorry to be vague, saw it mainly from the side as we sneaked past each other.

This ia a long shot but I'm curious... was it slightly old looking? Like mid-1990s? May have been a Bugatti EB110, which were mostly in the signature Bugatti blue:

http://www.angelfire.com/film/auto_photo_gallery/BUGATTI_EB110/BUGATTI_EB-110_14.jpg

Lots of supercars can be blue but the Maserati and EB110 are almost always in blue. I mean heck, even a Noble M15 would throw me off for an F1 car, and it's not that exclusive.

Noble M15....
http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/04/noblem1506_01.jpg

and then i thought of the Gumpert Apollo...
http://www.rsportscars.com/foto/10/apollos07_02.jpg

what did it sound like? high pitched F1 like? V8 rumble? V6 gurgle?

if it was one of those cars, then i SO wish you had a camera. could of been the first ever sighting in the wild for both.

Maser MC12's are road legal, it's that special MC12 Corsa edition that's limited to the track images/smilies/tongue.gif

No Boss' pic is of the Corsa, normal ones are more often than not white from what I've seen:

are you from Switzerland (i don't know the geography of many countries in Europe so i don't know where Lancashire is lol)?

because you did say "hints of F1 styling" and it was blue....
http://img297.imageshack.us/img297/6018/fxxmfk3bw1.jpg

it is very easy to get Zonda and the FXX/Enzo mixed up because of the F1-style nose and the FXX's headlights resembling that of the Zonda's headlights.

Lancashire is in England. I thought even Americans would get that.

You may be on to something with the Noble Elmo, I followed a blue one towards Alderley Edge (footballer haven) a few months ago and Lancashire is only about 10 miles from here.

No Boss's Maserati is the nearest so far, but still not right. This was more angular, particularly at the front. The cockpit was quite small, the sections over the rear wheels were high and rounded, and Husband reckons it was mid/rear engined.

This is now driving me bonkers....

It could have been a kit-car or a car made by a small company in very low numbers and if that's the case it could be hard to identify.

^ The F1 did come in one of those hotted up versions with a spoiler and some crazy colours. Ralph Lauren has an orange one.

I presume you would have have recognized if it was a Ferrari. It's just the "hints of F1 styling" leads my mind towards Ferrari...

Maybe a Koenigsegg?

Uwe, thanks, the Stealth is either it or very close, the nearest anyone's suggested, though I don't remember a big spoiler. And Donington, I'm grateful, as a beginner at this, for all the different suggestions people have made.
