It has to be an Auto ( My Dad can't drive stick ) 2. We would prefer it if decent performance 4. It has to be stylish 3. It has to be practical ( By practical I mean, it has to have a boot big enough to fit 4 shopping bags ) 5. It has to have good fuel economy ( By good fuel economy I meant 25 mpg or more )

Subaru WRX 4. See above 5. Make sure you have lots of Safeway dockets when you go to fill up the car. So. Tell your Dad to learn to drive properly and then buy a WRX. |

| I have to say that the given requirements are somewhat weird if you look for a sportscar, given that performance is 4th. Given the needs you have listed I would advise you to look at something other than "sportscars". Maybe a "sporty" car like a sports coupe instead. Besides the fact that you'd have to look for a used car, so the right choice very much depends on available vehicles.

| older mx-5 (second generation) might be able to pick up a turbo for that money, or the base model of the current series | |

| You should be able to get a second hand 2007 Chrysler Crossfire convertible for 10 dollars.

| Alrighty then, being the new resident Ford man, I'll suggest XR5 Turbo is a winner (at 35 grand you'll have change) or go for an XR6 turbo at 45k. Otherwise, you can go for a Rex, you'll want to hurry up on that because the new shithouse one comes out later this year, MX-5 is always a winner in the traditional sports car sense, but you really want to convince your old man to drive stick before you even think of the Mazda. Or if the budget stretched to 61k you'd get a Typhoon . If you're looking for a Four door auto your best bet might actually be the Falcons, they have the auto shift but the 6 speeder does have a pretty good tip shift mode. Then there's always the VW Golf GTi which has DSG or the Eos. Yeah go the Eos it definitely satisfies your criteria the best.

| Do Saturns/Pontiacs sell in Austrialia? I hear from R&T that the auto in the redline/GXP actually outperforms the manual in 0-60 times. | |

?Unfortunately i'm not to familiar with the Australian car market, but I know that both Holden and Ford make some pretty kick ass V8 sedans down there. If learning a manual is totally out, then i'd go for a new V8 Holden sedan. I know the last GTO's here got about 25mpg on the highway, which is about what you would get in a WRX. | |
