Default Buying a *brand new* STI used for stunts

A few weeks ago a stunt driver came to town to do stunts for a local Motorshow using a bunch of WRX and a STI. The WRXs were used to parallel park, reverse parking, two wheel driving and 180-degree turns. The STI on the other hand parking maneuevers, dance routine and donuts.

I recently found out that these cars have been put on sale and will be sold at a good discount by the sole Subaru dealer in the country. I'm interested with the STI as it has been given a substantial discount of USD7,330.

The STI's clutch is cooked as well as the hand break. This being the case the dealer will replace the clutch but I am unsure about the handbreak. The car's odo clocks in at 22miles at last check. The stock tires were used for a single day and were swapped out with harder ones the next day. Dunno if teh deal means I'll be getting the orignal ones or replacements.

If the STI was only used for donuts would the problem only be with the transmission and brakes? Would other problems come into play if it was only used to do donuts for a period of 4 days?

I think it would be fine. Especially with 7k knocked off it. If your planning on hard driving and modifications anyway, i'd go for it.

Buy it. Make sure the dealer replaces the clutch and fixes the handbrake. If it's just been donuts and the like, the gearbox should still be fine.

Hell, it's only got 22miles on it and they've already whacked off USD7k off it, that's a huge saving.

Buy it!!!

Well if i recall correctly, STi has the same style handbrake as the Legacy's.

Basically the back disc brake has a huge drum area for the brake itself...its not wise to pull it up to "drif0rz" in it. However, I think the only problem would just be stretching out the wire.

Also, STi prob used DCCD to put 75% (I think) of the power to the rear so it wouldn't mess up the car as much as mine being 50/50 all the time.

Well if it's only got 22 miles and used for stunts, that means the engine wasn't properly broken in, so that would account for the $7k as well.
Not sure how susceptible modern engines are to that though.

The max DCCD for the STi is 65% rear (at least on the 2004 USDM).

I would be careful, though. Subaru trannys just dont like to be beaten on, especially first to second shifts. You may see problems later.

Caveat emptor!
