Default Car rescue companies suck ass! read what happened to me ...

So, of course the day had to come when I also locked myself out of my car (the Beetle..), and had to conclude with the only solution to the problem being that I had to contact those companies who come with their big lorries and help you one the side of the road to change tires or for when this happens ...

So, the dude arrives, a half fat - middle aged fucker whos wearing sweats as if he's given up on life ...
He yanks in one of those rubber things you have your arm wrapped around in when you're at the doctors to get your pulse taken, sticks it in between the door and the car and pumps it ... then he slides a home made card board thingy with a string on it between the crack and inside the car to try and unlock it ...
He fails, and gets anxious to get it done ..

Now he brings out a thin metal stick thingy, like the ones you see in the movies and starts yanking under the window, still no luck.

That's when I hear an awful screechy sound, and I say "are you scratching up my window dude?"
"No, that's the lock mechanism you're hearing ........."
"No, I can see you making huge scratches in my window, stop it now!!!!!!!!"
The big fucker responds: "DO YOU WANT ME TO GET THE DOOR OPEN, OR DO YOU WANT TO GO COPY SOME NEW KEYS???!!!"
"Well, getting huge scratches in my wiondow surely can't be the price I have to pay to get my door open?!"
"Yes, it is ..."

By this time, I'm so angry, frustraed and PISSED OFF, I had to stop talking to him. I think I would have punched him in the face ... So he stops that, continues with the card board with string thingy and gets it open in the end.

Then he managed to bill me $70 images/smilies/lol.gif oh man ... the nerve ..

I'm writing a formal complaint in my lunch today, cuz this is unaccaptable. As soon as he left, I called up the company and talked with the manager. He told me this isn't what's supposed to happen (duh) and that I should write a complaint.

I'll post a picture of the damages later ...

VIKING SUCKS ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Btw; my gearbox decided to die today.... images/smilies/cry.gif )

That suxx, but so do most of these companies. You are one among the 100s of cars they have to deal with, and out of those 100cars probably 95 are nothing special, just everyday commuters. Hence, these people don't really care if one is driving a classic, or an expensive sportscar... images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

Im not exactly familiar with the locking mechanism on a beetle, but how did you manage to lock yourself out?

images/smilies/eek.gif that sucks... some people just don't know how to deal with customers...

If i were you, i wouldn't let him continue... tell him to leave, call and tell his manager to send another guy to do the service for free... or maybe with a little discount. That's a terrible service.

Tell them to pay for the damages. images/smilies/mellow.gif

WOW! Your Beetle needs keys to open it!

My friend had one which would open when you put any old key into it. Hell it didn't even have to be a key, just about anything worked, wire, a knife end, you name it it opened it.

Well that will teach you to get one with real locks! images/smilies/tongue.gif

But serious, that sucks. As fbc said, I hope they pay for the damages.

Just call a car thief instead if you are that "special" to lock yourself out of the car.

They get it up in no time.

Bad luck images/smilies/sad.gif What's with gearbox? Complitely dead?

About the locks, my car was opened last winter with this:

http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/4047/img36454qm.jpg

They tried to start it too, but failed, I found the "tool" in ignition lock. And installed an alarm next week images/smilies/smile.gif

That sucks man. I should share a positive experience to make you feel better. images/smilies/smile.gif

I have AAA membership (for the states, obviously), and one time it really came in handy. A friend of mine had locked his keys in his truck and left the engine running, and he was panicking. It wasn't my car, but I called AAA anyway, and they said that they cover any car you happen to be in (or around, in this case), not just your own car. So the lady at the other end of the phone said she'd send someone right over since the engine was running, and, sure enough, 10-15 minutes later the guy showed up in his truck, tried one tool, which didn't work, pulled out a second tool, which did work, unlocked the truck, checked my membership card, had me sign a form saying the work was done and left. It was all free too, included in the annual membership fee ($60).

Are there any auto clubs in Norway? It's definitely worth it to be part of one, IMO.

Exactly, and you don't need keys to lock the doors, you just push the pin and slam it. I made a second set, just in case.

What does central looking got to do with it?

I still cant understand how someone can lock themself out of a car.

On cars with central looking it can lock by it self if the wires are badly connected which happened to my mothers car once.

I have never heard of anyone else manage to lock themself out.

this is why we never use the "pin" to lock the door images/smilies/smile.gif

always close the door 1st, then lock it using the key
