Default Car sound Archive

Hi everyone

I thought (hope nobody else did so jet images/smilies/smile.gif ) it would be cool to have an archive of engine/car sounds.

My idea is that whoever has a car would (if possible) record it and upload it as a mp3.
so that we could listen to some nice sounds while surfing on FinalGear images/smilies/biggrin.gif

And everyone who posts a sound would give a little description of it. weather its a v8 oder something else and when it was recorded e.g. while accelerating or something else

I would like to hear your opinion about it.

That's how I did it, I took a video and extracted the audio with Windows Movie Maker. (I'm a video editing noob and Movie Maker came with Windows) Quality could be better though...

It does sound good, yeah. images/smilies/smile.gif

And BTW, the R32 has an exhaust similar to the one you can find on a Ferrari F430 for instance. There is a pipe by-passing the muffler which closes after you fire it up and opens again above 65 km/h (or ~40 mph). The open by-pass lowers the exhaust back pressure and raises the sound level. If it would be open all the time, the R32 wouldn't be road legal. images/smilies/wink.gif

There's a vacuum hose connected to the muffler which opens and closes the by-pass. Now if you block or disconnect this hose the by-pass won't close... I have yet to take a video of that, it sounds even better. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

Best recording of a Formula One engine I've heard. It's a Ferrari F2000 at a test day somewhere. Seriously turn you speakers and bass up for this. Spine tingelingly good!

http://media.putfile.com/Car-Sounds---Ferrari-F1-2000

This one is pretty good too. The noise an F1 car makes from a distance is always pretty special. Just this really deep all surrounding scream (if that makes sense!)
