| Depends on what you would call classic. If you go by the 25 year rule, then yes, I have. I once owned a 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix. It was the V-6 model, though. Unfortunately it was sold and I think the asshole who bought it turned it into one of those "donk" cars. I could've killed that asshole for doing that to what was my first car...

Rep Power: 26 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well I have a 1967 Mustang and a soon to be classic 1989 Merkur XR4Ti. I always thought classics started after 20 years, but YF19 goes by 25 years. Is there an accepted age? |

Car: Toyota MR2 Mk1, Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC, Peugeot 309 Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() | No idea if there's an accepted age - I think it really depends who's asking... ![]() According to my insurance company, all three of my cars are classics! Even though the Pug is a pile of... Well, okay, it's actually a great car that I joke about all the time! But they go along the definition of 15+ years old...I definitely consider my MR2s to be classics. In my opinion, it's not just about the age of the car but also about the amount of them on the road. In the case of the MR2, there definitely aren't a huge amount left...
__________________ Yup, two too many cars, but I love 'em: 1991 Peugeot 309 - owned it for four years, currently the only runner and the daily driver... but great fun to drive! French though, so gotta treat her rough to keep her happy. 1989 Toyota MR2 Mk1 - owned it for two years. Love it loads. Currently undergoing a suspension upgrade... 1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC - A project car that had Headgasket issues when I bought it. I've never driven it... yet... |

| Global Moderator | I consider both my own car as well as my wife's cars classics. My car for the impact the model had on the market (at least on this side of the pond) and my wife's for being one of the first Japanese small cars that was fun to drive. |

Car: Citroen ZX 1.4i Tonic Rep Power: 4 ![]() | I had one a FIAT 127. Well, it was my father's car, but it was mine as well. We gave away when we bought the 93' SEAT Ibiza. The 127 was rusty and about to break in half. ![]() Not the actual car, but it was like this one. |

Car: Mazda 323 '93 Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | We still have one just like that, but in blueish grey (1984 127 Super Stella 5 Speed). It's sitting in a field now, and it still hasn't done more than 84,000 km. It just got too rusty to be on the road, and then me and my brother got to learn to drive with it. |

Car: 1986 Toyota Cressida Rep Power: 11 ![]() | I like to think of my Cressida as a classic since it never was common and my car is now 22 years old. I do like the fact that my car's very conservative 80s Japanese styling, and Toyota's then strange fascination with chrome trim makes it easy for me to spot it in any lot.

If you go off of car culture to dictate what a classic is, it could include a car as late as 1999. Considering that just about every RWD Volvo is considered a classic (or at least somewhat desirable like the 700 series), then my current car would be considered. Not too sure if my old '87 Sentra Hatchback would count, as I don't think its desirable, but some people get a kick out of old 80's Japanese metal. So, depending on who you talk to, all three cars I've owned could be considered "classics".

Car: '78 Ford, '74 Yamaha, '74 Honda Rep Power: 26 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The definition of 'classic' is debatable, but personally I'd have to say it's got to be at least 30-35 years old. My Ford isn't a classic, it's just an old POS. The Yamaha is pretty nice though, when I have it running. 35 years old and only 3,600 miles on it . It would clean up really nice with a thorough cleaning and a straighter tank.I just love old stuff. Take my Yamaha for instance. There's a tool kit under the seat that fits in your hand, and if you were really determined you could disassemble the entire bike with it, probably in a matter of hours. It seems like manufacturers now couldn't build stuff like that if they wanted to. |

Car: Too many Rep Power: 30 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 25 year rule is about right, but the personality of the car is more important. Right now i have a 82 Rabbit thats almost classic, if nothing else its atleast built completely different then cars today. In my opinion their are certain elements of older cars that are better, but the comfort, ergonomics, reliability, and economy has all gone up maybe even 2 fold since the the 60s/70s. If it wasn't for the fact that most cars since about the mid 80s seemed to be made dumbed down and more generic (probably due to corporate and or marketing expectations) then i would have no need for old cars. Its just sad, i mean Alfa Romeo started making FWD Salons, Hondas got big, and at the very peak of it Porsche started making trucks. Tisk Tisk, what ever happened to defining characteristics?
