Default Confirmed, AM Rapide coming to Australia

Confirmed, we will be havening one Aston Martin Rapide coming to South Australia. I was talking to the proud owner who has owned a DB9 and now has a 996 991TT and also has a F430 spider and he said that he absolutely loved his DB9 and if the Rapide is half as good it is still excellent. The dealer told him that it will be a 12-18 month wait and when he said that I was very suspired. A wait on a V8 vantage is 24 months. But meh, I do not care as I will get to see a lot and just get to admire it.

I'm assuming the wait list is so short (well relatively) because it is still only a concept. Most people won't put their money down until they know it will be built and know the expected delivery etc.

Plus a majority of people wait until professional reviewers first get their hands on them and let you know if they are any good or not. This was the how it was with the DB9 following the dismal DB7 and the overpriced Vanquish. Sales were minimal during the concept phase, but on the day after the car was first reviewed on Top Gear over a years production quota was ordered in London alone.

Although I'm guessing more people will be willing to put their money down before seeing the car as Aston Martin have greatly increased the quality, and desirability, of their cars in the last couple of years.

It will also be interesting to see if they keep the impressive interior, or if it will end up with a more standard fit and finish, like removing the glass chess board from the boot. images/smilies/lol.gif

I also think the rear leg room looks a little...cramped. But then again the CLS is hardly spacious in the rear.

Yes but the Rapide has a wheelbase longer than an S-Class or Quartroporte believe it or not, so you would expect a hell of a lot more than its got. And that boot is kind of useless.

How many come to Aus is meaningless. Its not like you'll ever see one anyway.

Unless Janus stops his order for the Vantage and gets the Rapide instead and invites us all to his house images/smilies/cheers.gif

Crazy talk - as utterly lovely as the Rapide is, the Vantage just makes me go weak at the knees.

That light arrangement is amazing. I stared at it for several minutes just getting my head around it.

If anything this car looks better in these proportions than the shorter wheel-bases.

Exactly, if STi is right there will be one here. And if they are going into production I'm sure I'll know a couple of people in England who will be getting them.

I think he is going to have to drive it to Melbourne to show me images/smilies/tongue.gif

There is a DB9 around the corner from me, I have only ever seen it once, parked in the driveway, but there are a few Ferraris and Lamborghinis I see around often. It truly is an experience
