These photos are from a recent GT90s Revival series.
The has McLaren F1 had an atypical career. Initially envisaged to be only one mass-production car, it finally gained its variation GTR of race in 1994 with the creation of championship BPR Series. Amusing detail, because of the regulatory supports, the GTR was less powerful than the road version! In 1995, it will gain at the 24 Hours of Mans and it will be its only success on the Sarthe-native circuit. To tell the truth, McLaren will never really have shone. Development lack, it will quickly be beaten by Porsche GT1 and other Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR! In 1997, important modifications are made to the car, and appears the very impressive version Length Tail (long tail), our photograph of the day, which was that of l' stable EMKA having gained 2 races in the championship English WP in 1997. In spite of that, and even with the support of BMW, it will not be able to reach the victory in the international championships any more. Let us note all the same a victory of manufacturers category in championship JGTC (now called Super WP), before Nissan and Toyota! Several private stables tried to exploit its potential everywhere in the world, but the cruel lack of development of the car forced it to occupy the places of honor. In short, one comes from there to think that the road version is more impressive, moreover his competitors today still amount on the fingers of a hand! A really atypical car.
