Wiring problem possibly? I think glitches like this afflict all manufacturers, even Japanese ones! Now the real test is how your dealer fixes the problem and treats you. You should keep us posted of your experiences and we will see. In the UK it has been runoured that service has declined as has build quality despite the same price premium being charged for the cars so you may have a point. .... Easy to make money for a short time by 'selling' you brand image, much harder to get the thing back IMHO.

Quality of the actual machines aside - Mercedes service here in the states is tantamount to a rectal exam - its not just UK. As JC notes - they claim its improving. Sorry MarcoM - what Merc is it?

Everything depends on the model and age sadly. No marque is immune from sh!t products anymore.

Ianspeed trouble is older (1995 being the last completely un-buggered up year) is better as far as Merc is concerned, I am afraid.

I feel your pain with the reliability stuff. It seems my Disco is only able to run for a month, then it's broken for about a week. (Its been in the shop since the 8th.) I love it to death, but it's getting to the point where I'm starting to think about selling it for something else. The combination of weird things going wrong and the cost of parts is hard to live with.

No. No. NO! Mercedes, until recently has been a company of understated class. It was an elegant marquee that quietly and without fanfare carried heads of state all over the world to golf games, operas, and negotiations. It had a racing heritage, but more importantly the history of Mercedes was the history of the car itself. The Mercedes should never have to be loud or obnoxious or noisome to be noticed. It should be only noticed for being the hole in the blanket of crass plastic and chrome that otherwise covers the roads. Case closed!

All this understated elegance is bs because the higher end Benzes are all fucking huge and disgusting looking. Audi's are better at being what Benzes are supposed to be. |

Rice was not discovered in Japan when Mercedes built that lovely car.
It was the CLK DTM of early 90's.
