Default For the Brits (and others)- World's Fastest Land Rover?

Just thought I might share with you all a project we were working on. . untill he crashed it and wrecked it. .
Quite possibly the world's quickest Land Rover??

Full Chassis Series 1 landy, Clevo and glide.
Ran with a single 950HP Holley to a best of 9.20 and then we stuck a 6/71 blower on it and went 8.55 with the aspirated converter still in it, slipping pretty bad.

Engine was only a mild setup, standard Clevo block, 393 cubes, about 10.5:1, aluminium 2V heads, only ran about 8psi and made 826hp on the dyno.

Was a cool little car, definitely got the crowd talking!

Didn't the army do a defender with 6 wheels and a blown Chevy V8?

Anyway, such a shame it crashed into the wall. Its an awesome looking beast.

Can I get those pictures in high-resolution to use as desktop?

That is brilliant. Shame it wasn't made with Land Rover parts though, then it wouldn't have met Mr. Wall. images/smilies/sad.gif

Nah she was a write-off unfortunately. We tore it all down to a bare chassis and it was all twisted. . to fix it would have been basically to replace it anyway, there were maybe 2 or 4 bars that could have been re-used in the cage, the chassis was junk, the front end we had to cut off to get the engine out, the rear end was bent, it completely junked the engine and gearbox, bent the tailshaft . . it was a mess. . .

We salvaged the blower, carbs, heads and manifold off the engine, as well as the bolt on stuff which is surprising that it survived, managed to save the one-off dissy we had to modify to get it to fit under the blower, saved the water pump. . and then put another Clevo together with what we saved off the old one on top and put it in this:

Has gone 8.51 so far but we're still just shaking it down.

Actually all the panels were genuine original Series 1 landy, as dragged out of a paddock here. . . we did a bit of research and the Landys around that area are believed to be the first imported into Australia. . to be used on the Snowy River hydro-electricity scheme.

Coolest thing I've seen since a Volkswagen 181 Thing dragster I saw a while back. That got wrecked too, but has since been rebuilt, but I can't find any pictures of it!

Aerodynamics? Who needs aerodynamics - with the speed that thing must get it up to I imagine when the air sees it coming it just get f#ck out of the way and does what it's told. Sad to see it's not amongst us any longer.
