Golden Tulip Rally 2004 Pics

I went to the GTR 2004 today...Hehe GTR (Golden Tulip Rally)
I wanted to share it with you all.
It was a pretty nice day, I was @ the spot @ 9oclock this morning (2hr drive) and they were already racing with tuned Focus, Micra, BMW E30, Volvo (lots of), Clio's you know the rest. Pretty cool things, they fly through corners and even lift wheels through the tricky ones.
At around 12o'clock the 'other' cars went through the stages.
Evolution, Impreza, Corolla, Celica GT4, Hyundai Accent, Ford Escort.
That was really nice, Celica GT4 was backfiring his ass off!

Hmmm looked nice, thanks for the pics.

Reember seeing some "best of" programe on the dutch tele way bak in teh day that I lived in the NL and reaaly wish I could have been there...

Whereabouts in the NL is this rally held?

The service park was in Nijverdal and the rallystages were in Rijssen, Hellendoorn, Enter and Holten. It were tarmac/gravel/dustsand stages.

The only part that was not fun was the accident at the end of the day, a girl got hit by a Lancer EVO going WAY too hard through that corner you see the Celica GT4 sideview. 2 Ambulances and a helicopter picked her up.

Didn't get all the models...the Yellow one was testing the engine or so, he revved that engine all the way, it was brutal, i stood there for like 10 minutes, revving it all the time..man i wet my pants every time I think about it...I actually recorded it with my phone but Can't get that on the internet..

Those were the only Volvo pics, I should've asked yesterday if anybody wanted any specific cars photgraphed at the GTR...I had 40mbs left...

Any chance she was standing on the outside of a corner?
I ask that because it always amazes me that people stand on the outside of a corner in rallys (not that you couldn't get hurt on a straightaway or the inside of a corner).

Eh yeah actually she was ( I was 10 minutes before that , My brother convinced met that on in the other side we could make nicer pictures)
On the outside of the corner they "marked" a 4m strip, but that white Celica went off the tarmac in that corner a few minutes ago, and almost every car lifted a wheel. It was just a matter of time when it happened.
The marshalls did a pretty good job at making the place secure. But you were allowed to sit/stand there. I was about 50 meters away when I heard the crowd going "ooohh". I looked and I saw the evo going off the tarmac with great speed and spinning on the grass, I lost the car behind a grain field. I made a pic of the accident because I didn't know anybody was hit, but I won't post that one here.

Actually some people from the crowd got almost run over by the other cars that were still racing the stage. In a matter of minutes the whole crowd stood next to the girl laying on the ground. Everybody wanted to see it and make pictures, at the end they just "hugged" the EVO and the paramedics had trouble reaching here with the stretcher.
People act strange in groups, I really don't that about people.

I saw some of the Wales Rally GB cars today, I had a digital camera with me but my photography sicks so I didn't get any decent photos. I may upload what I got later if anyone is interested, there's only 5 or so shots that show anything, and even then not much mind....

No amazing shots, byt they show some stuff. I was driving when I saw all the junior cars and my friend couldn't use the camera so we missed them.

All over south wales, mainly in a triangle between Cardiff, Swansea and the Brecon Beacons (where the SAS train).

i have to say that as im a marshal w e have not much power we cant make ppl move whicht really pisses me off we can tell people not to stand there but if they say no you cant do much. also ive done a marshals course it had a vid and it had an evo hitting 2 marshals. now by looking at the crash the guys were trown over and fence (throught a bush) and into a feild that there legs were broke ppl only started to slow down cars after the 3rd car went trough very skary if you were in a crash really no one would know for at least 5-10 mins. now in ireland rallying is safe (but we did have 2 marshals killed aout 3 years ago) we put the time and effert into preparing them and alot go off with out a hitch (part of a club you dont know how much goes into an event theve stated on our next rally whitch is on next feb )

Yeah so far I haven't seen any people who didn't obbey to the Marshalls. Would be very stupid if people wouldn't listen.

A strange thing is that the Press is being quite dangerous, I have it on vid, a slippy dikeroad where there is a tight corner and the Press is just standing in the place where the car would go if it would slid...

Sometimes I'm quite amazed at the risk they take..

well to be honest we can ask them to move(i have in the peast) ii have some old vids where a guys was hit only cracked kneecap he was not the next day taking photos again and this year at the last big rally a guy had his leg sliced off where he was taking pics after a jump and tehn crushed agaisnt a tree he lost the leg.
