Default Great sightings day [no pics, writeup]

So on my way home after work, I just saw two great cars although very different ones.

Both are prolly in the top 5 rarest cars of the area.

The first one I've seen is a VW Golf R32, although it might be common for everyone, they're not available in Canada, and it had to be privately imported and rebuilt to be legal here, and damn, it looks great and that sound! oh shit!

I wonder how much one of those would cost compared to other cars...

Anyway, a few minutes later, when going on the freeway (in fact, the start of it, at a light) I saw something special in my rear view mirror, I thought to myself, that can't be a Testarossa!

Sure enough, it was! The guy pulled to my right, me in the automatic Crapalier being in the left lane and him being in the center (how funny is that) and I looked at the car for a moment.

There were 2 guys in it and they seemed cool.

Anywho, the light turns green and well obviously he starts off slow, cause I wanted to hear him images/smilies/mad.gif

So I just go normally like I always do (start off quick after it turns green) which always gives the impression than I'm going faster than I do, so I was in front of everyone, although I didn't accelerate that much.

I was up to my cruising speed of 130km/h having forgotten about the Ferrari when I wanted to pull in the center lane like I always do at that time, and just as I looked in my mirror, I was him coming.

Boy he did! I just had time to wind down the window and hear the red bullit scream by! He must've been doing a good 150km/h. That boxer sounded awesome!

He then slowed down cause at 125-130 I was catching up, but I never got time to get side to side with him to give him a thumbs up because he took the same exit as me but went on the other side.

Anyway, it was quite cool to see two rare cars like that (the Ferrari being a lot more impressive obviously)

I don't think a R32 is too common for anyone, and I'm not saying this b/c I'm partial. images/smilies/wink.gif
They just didn't make that many, only ~7000 worldwide. I've only met 2 thus far BTW.

You're not alone, although it's only a VW Golf many perceive it as something special. I always feel it when driving around town. Many people give it a second look, at gas stations or parking lots people ask questions or walk by staring at it, etc. (can't imagine what it's like if you have a Ferrari or Lambo)

Another example for it's rarity, when looking at the used car market prices have actually increased slightly over the past year. Despite the higher mileage.

Depends on where he got it from.
MSRP was 29,000 USD in America. Here in Germany you could get one for 39.000 USD, a fully loaded R32 would have set you back 50.000 USD

I'm guessing it's from the USA. The regulations should be very similar, or not? Only minor modifications would have been required, if any.

always cool is you see cars like that

the thing you described at the lghts; we once had a similar situation with an M3, we were next to one at the lights in a friends golf II 1.6. it turns green, and we and the M3 accellerate identical, hit clutch the same time, throw it in second, WHOOOOOSSSSHH M3 gone

that was so cool, everything identical until his clutch gripped in 2nd, and he was gone

Cool - Testarossas have such great street presence. They're so low and wide and images/smilies/mrgreen.gif .

maybe, but they're illegal to import here in Canada, so they're very rare
