Default Harder test for Jersey

Apparently the little island of Jersey (my home island) is looking to change the way the driving test works - well the process of learning to drive anyway.

You already have to pass a theory test before you can start taking lessons - under new plans you will have to have completed a certain number of hours under a variety of conditions before you can take your practical test.

You'll get a driving log book when you first start taking lessons and will have to show it to the examiner before you can take the test.

How will you get the motorway experience? Could get expensive!

In Jersey (Channel Islands) we have no motorways and an island wide 40mph speed limit (30mph in most places).

Yes I know - so you'll be coming over to Pompey to have a run up the M27 then?

Frankly I feel this is needed. When I have been to Jersey the standard of driving s in some cases shocking. The Filter in Turns especially seem to flummox a lot of the drivers.
Would I be right in saying Germany runs a similar scheme?

Really? I think the Filter in Turn system works a treat. I've never really had any problem with local standard car drivers either. Just cocking tractors/trucks/horses, you know those sorts of things!

While on the subject of Jersey has anyone heard the brilliant pieces of satire by Hedley le Maistre (www.myspace.com/hedleylemaistre)
