Default Harry Connick's Lincoln MKX TV Ad

Have you guys seen this? I just saw it on telly and I was dumbfounded. As if there aren't enough reasons to hate this ugly thing, this shameless ad is something onto itself:

+ YouTube Video
ERROR: If you can see this, then YouTube is down or you don't have Flash installed.

Aside from being pretty questionable morally, it's not even funny or interesting in the least to watch.

Worst. Ad. Ever.

I don't see what's immoral about it, but it's a lame car, and a lame ad.

Yeah, boring. I am starting to really like those Lincolns though. They look really good. Inside and out.

It's immoral because he's just driving through New Orleans... all they do is interchangew shots of a devestated city and shots of Harry Connick, Jr. driving his Lincoln. How are these two even related? He is from New Orleans and he happens to drive an MKX... that's it?

I guess I don't think it's immoral as much as it's a sign of how greedy and shameless some of these companies are.

I think Shawn is referring to the ad revolving around the Katrina disaster in order to sell cars. Not immoral, but very distasteful IMO. In other news, when did Harry Connick Jr. become black? images/smilies/lol.gif

Car Ads are always trying to play on one emotion or another, that's how it works.

I don't think Ford is going to Guilt anyone into buying an MKX, though.

I actually like the look of the vehicle, front end especially. As for the ad, doesn't bother me.

I don't mind the add Harry Connick is a great piano player and he made money of it so nothing wrong in my book, not his fault it was bad he just appeared in it.

EVERYONE is capitalizing on katrina, it's nothing new or shocking. but, this guy is actually from there, and actually gives a shit about the area, unlike a lot of other people who could really give a shit but just use the area as a pedestal to talk about whatever their pet cause is.

IMO those VW ads with the crashes were worse, basically trying to scare you into buying a VW.

Obviously Shawn saw this article and decided to agree with it http://adage.com/garfield/article?article_id=121918

I honestly didn't think anything of it, but then I'm just desensitized to it. Anytime a company donates 50 cents to some relief fund they use it in a commercial and pat themselves on the back for it. Corporations have been doing it for years, and will continue to do so. The only reason why they ever do help anyone in need is because it can be used to give them a better image and tax write off.

I'm actually fond of the MKX images/smilies/biggrin.gif If i were to buy a crossover that or the Ford Edge would be it. Although, I would never actually buy one.

It could have been worse. They could have released a lot of water and then you would see a close up of the front of the vehicle and see the car drive through the waves. And at the end Hairy Curly whatever smiles at the camera showing his set of gold teeth. Followed by him singing 'Riders on the storm'. images/smilies/rolleyes.gif
