This Boxster had the Tiptronic tranny, which was new to me. It was a fun experience, but I would still get the manual if I get a roadster like this one ...

Sure was fun to tap down two gears from 5th. to 3rd. real quick on the highway, give it 100% gas and just fly away ..............................

Is it as good as people make it out to be? All this stuff about it being a true "drivers car" and so on...

And is that a black finish cos its hard to see in the dark?

Well, yes it truly is!

It has a genuine Porsche feel to it, drives like a proper roadster should too.

It's fast enough for me, but some say that one should go for the S, which I can see. But from a standstill, full power and shift @ 6500 to 2.nd and same to third, it really kicks you in the back and has great acceleration for sure images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I have driven the Boxster before, but then only for a few minutes, this one I drove nearly 2 hrs.. Too bad it wasn't sunny, I would've taken the roof down 8)

Yes, it was black

Tiptronic? Oh, what a crime! I love my Tiptronic, but I'd love a manual even more.

I've driven many, many of them. I much prefer the S, as the base is quite boring. Especially in tiptronic form. But I will say, they both handle like they're on rails, but the base doesnt have the oomph to get out of corners. 201hp? C'mon now...

Awesome....

I test drove one about a year ago, I think it was the base. Amazing, it was actually better than the 911 cabriolet (996). But the new 997 is unbelievable, I wish they had an S for me to test out.....

When you get a chance, take a convertible 'S' out for a spin. Nothing is better than the exhaust note of that 3.8, except for the exhaust note of the 3.8....with the top down. It is pure audible sex.

When I got back to the dealer, the sales associate (A cool german guy in his 50s maybe) opened hte doors and fired up the 997 S they had in the showroom, gave it a couple of revs...sent shivers down my spine, it was fantastic.
