I took a Cayman S in trade last week...

I got a chance to drive it the other day and it was a blast.

Great control, tons of power, very comfortable seats and so very sexy. It was 70 grand new and we already sold it for 57,000 USD. It is a great car much better then the Boxter ever was. It is so much more solid and the turn in is incredibly precise. Kind of loud on the inside but just turn the radio up and problem is solved.



Unfortunately my legs are just a couple inches too long and I could never drive the car for more then 40 minutes or so. I started getting a cramp in my left leg because I needed a bit more room in front of my foot and too the left.

Maybe some thin soled driving shoes would help but I don't think it would be enough. The front and rear trunks are huge though so if you are under 5 foot 10 and are looking for a great track car that can also be used on weekend trips with an SO the Cayman would be perfect.

My dad has one of those. Needless to say, he started to suspect I was taking it out on my own "test drives" when the rear tires were getting worn lol.

You found it loud on the inside? I drove one last year and found it far too quiet. I also found it to be a bit more detached, a bit less direct and involving than the previous gen. boxter. Still, it is a very nice car and once you get to wind the engine up to 4k it does pull very strong.

Bah I meant to do that today but it was too busy at work so I never got a chance too.

Sadly our sister store did get a very pretty 1997 911 in a couple of weeks ago that was a slushbox.

I went looking for it and nearly cried when I got close and saw that it was an auto.

that review was bad enough that it made me forget the Cayman exsisted, i suppose i shouldn't let JC be that influential, but im young and impressionable!

atleast he didn't turn me on the F50 completely, i still love that car, even if its only a million dollar go-cart with no real refinement

I would have to go and re-watch the review. I don't really remember it too well. If my left leg was about three inches shorter I would love that car but there is just no room for my big size 13s in the foot well so my left leg is put in an awkward position. After a while I get a pain in my knee that works its way into a cramp in my thigh and then goes up to my back. I am pretty sure that in a few more minute I would start getting a cramp in my back and then probably muscle spasms in my back as well. I didn't drive the car long enough to find out for sure.


A great car for sure but just not a great car for me. I need a 911, a C4 S please, or a stretched wheel base cayman.

I played with the seat controls some more and I think by jacking the seat all the way up I can get my legs where I want them. I didn't drive it like that as it is in the showroom but I think it would be much better.

I was just looking at used 911s for the heck of it. Two really similar 911 4S', similar milage and everything... the manual was around $55,000, the automatic was around $36,000.
