no, wrong. they aren't the same car. the Murano comes in FWD and AWD flavors while the FX comes in both RWD and AWD. the FX is a much bigger car than the Murano and is based off an SUV platform rather than the car platform the Murano is based off. now the EX you're talking about is infact the Infiniti equivalent of the Murano.

You're right, they aren't the same car, but your details couldn't be more incorrect than they already are.

The FX model is based off the same platform as the 350Z whereas the the Murano is based off the Maxima/Altima platform. This is why the FX has RWD/AWD and the Murano has FWD/AWD versions.

Though the FX35 is slightly longer than the Murano (only by so much), the Murano has more interior space due to it's platform; the FX has it's engine farther back toward the center the car and the engine is mounted logitudinally. They both have the same engine, however the Murano has the de-tuned V6.

Sorry, you just seem to have all the answers when it comes to Toyota. images/smilies/biggrin.gif
In Europe the Camry does really poorly with its driving dynamics, it also suffers from its large size pitting it against BMW, Mercedes and Audi where it doesn't compare that well. In North America, the Camry does nearly everything right in terms of a what a typical North American car needs to do. The Camry has decent equipment, its quite comfortable, its large enough for a normal family, its reasonably priced, it has a reputation for reliability and does well enough in crash safety. I guess one can say its popular because it is boring. Its driving dynamics really doesn't show its problems with the typical grid system in North America since most turns are done slowly under such a system. Toyota realized eventually this formula works best in North America and thus most of the cars here are Camry based.

The Middle east is an interesting market, it seems to follow the Toyota Australia in a lot of cases even with its small lineup. The only exceptions are mainly engines where the Middle east prefers 4-cylinders for cars particularly the very old but very durable 22R which only stayed in production for a long time because the Middle east liked that engine very much. Other than those pieces of info I'm not sure why they like the Camry. The only reason I know about their engine preferences is all the middle eastern guys with a stock Toyota Cressida regardless of age came with a 22R, everywhere else its definitely a more powerful 6-cylinder.

Not even close. the reasons why Toyota is popular in the GCC is that in the early 80's the Toyota Cressida and Crown made a good reputation for Toyota that they make high quality cars which can last for many years. But after they interceded the Camry to the region in the mid 90's it lost some of that reputation and in the last five years the Camry lost most of its customers for the Accord, Sonata and Altima. But still due to its old reputation, its cars doesn't loss much of what you paid for it if you wanted to sell it.

as for the engines, they are the choice of Toyota and its stupid local dealers, if is up to us then we want the new ones.images/smilies/mad.gif

If you read my post carefully you would have saw that I didn't know why the Camry is popular over there. So from what your saying is its still reasonably popular for Toyota's reputation and high re-sale value. The partnership with Toyota Australia however is true since many of the Camrys made in Australia do go to the Middle east, its also the only other place to get a Aurion.

As for the engines it seems as if very few in the Middle east bought a Toyota car with anything other than a 22R. Again its the only place I know where the 22R was still used when it would probably be cheaper to discontinue it. The 22R still maintains a excellent reputation of durability and reliability despite its very low power, judging what you said about how Middle east buyers liking this reliability is possibly a factor why it was still readily available in the mid 90s.
