Few things, cosmetics most of all...

Different finish for the wheels, chrome bretzels in the lights, tan leather interior, exclusive cherry red exterior color, etc.

I'v never liked that Cherry Red colour...cant they just keep that luminous formula red colour they got images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

actually it's not cherry red, it's dark purple...Black Cherry Mica to be exact
last time I went to Mazda dealer with my friend they had 2 of them on the lot, the sales man asked me if I wanted a test drive but I didnt bother, had already driven RX-8 multiple times.
what really turned me off was that stupid Shinka badged B pillar, it's a peice of plastic glued to the B pillar with the word "Shinka" and some Japanses written on top of it.

I wish I could find a bigger picture of that B pillar... I'm going to the dealers tomorrow again (kill summer time), maybe I'll take some pictures..

In Japan, it's called the RX-7 Sport Prestige Limited. They claim nothing extraordinary except for cosmetic differences and minor chassis tuning. The most important of these changes include stiffer dampers, more rigid roof/pillar structure, urethane bushes for front crossmember, and slightly bigger brakes. Exterior changes include semi-gloss finishes for the headlight and taillight assemblies. Also included are the fog lights, new rear spoiler, and deep gloss wheels. Interior changes include difference coloured trim, new steering wheel with stereo controls, beige leather seats, and VW-style flip keys.

Some guy in the marketing group at Mazda North America probably asked what "evolution" was in Japanese. (obviously thinking about the Lancer) Another guy with a dictionary shouted out "SHINKA!" Then all was said and done with that matter.

I've heard of the RX-7 coming back though. If it's going to happen, it should be in a couple more years. Maybe 2007-2008 when all the Japanese sports cars are being revived or completely redesigned.

I must confess: the RX-7 was the first japanese car I really liked...and I fell in love with it since I saw one in person for sale. Red, with a ridiculous price tag (there must be no more than a handfull in Brazil).... images/smilies/drool.gif
