Bloody hell, putting that back together must be fun.

Not something you'd really attempt with a Haynes manual.

Damn, that is a huge amount of work because 3 screws that held the rotor in one of the distributors failed a mechanic forgot the screws that fixated the rotors in the distributors, leaving large amounts off unburnt fuel in the cylinders, which thinned the oilfilm between piston and cylinder, effectively making the engine run dry. With molten pistons as a result.

you dont want to attempt anything with a haynes manual....they are shite.

they describe everything like its a piece of cake, they dont even tell you what tools might be useful for the job at hand or anything and what usually happens is the job isnt that easy and its compounded by not having a fully stocked mechanics workshop

Yeah tell me about it. I wanted to replace the PCV valve in my Pathfinder, and the manual stated in steps.

1. Remove PCV valve

Neglecting to mention the number of emissions pipes that needed to be removed, along with the air filter, and the fact that the carby sat on top, meaning you could only turn the spanner 1/16 of a turn before it bumped against metalwork.

Unfortunately, the shop manual for my car is the US version, which has a different engine.

a) he changed the engine because it was completely destroyed but overhauled the new used one

b) this is the old v12 without turbos etc, i don´t think zonda uses this one (they use AMG versions of the new one) images/smilies/wink.gif ....I don´t know if the new one is based on this though images/smilies/wink.gif

Zonda uses the old 7.3 litre Merc V12, which I think is a bored and stroked version of the engine in question.

Just checked, it's called the M120. It's also in the CLK-GTR!

The Zonda 7.3 Liter V12 engine was used in the SL73 AMG (R129) in the first place. It was also in the CLK GTR SS I guess, not really sure though.
