All I can say is wow. I really hope McMerc start building some kickass cars.
I don't hope that the design stays the same, though. Does anyone else see an Acura TL in the tail? I also don't like the rear brake lights - compare them to the front. Front = square, edgy, and COOL; back = flattened ovals and UGLY. The lopsided roundness of the lights completely contrasts the sharp, edgy styling of the rest of the car. And the side, well, it somehow resembles an RX-8. I don't know, it just doesn't look like a McLaren should. The shape is cool, but it needs some reworking. |

the car looks kinda funny... the hood is too short... I like long hoods like the Mclaren SLR

Hmm, The 7G Tronic uses a mutiplate clutch, not a torque converter...

Like every conventional automatic transmission, it uses a torque converter. The only special thing about it, is it has a cleverer lock-up clutch control. You can clearly see the torque convertor in this image:

hmm... I don't really see the torque converter... usually its the big round tube thing... or is that circle thing at the front the torque converter, I've never seen them in this shape before

awesome, looks very futuristic, I doubt though that when the car finally comes out it that it will look anything like that

the shape resembles the eclipse... it looks like the car stopped too fast and everything shifted to the front as well
The world isn't ready for such futuristic designs

That is a really cool car, much better than that stupid SLK GTR Turbo AMG McLaren Poopcar

I think the concept looks good, but I never trust manipulated photos from Autocar. I do think its about time Mercedes goes out to kick some Ferrari ass.

I think the front is absolutely gorgeous (bar the logo - that must fuck up aerodynamics too), but the back still needs some work. Too Alfa Romeo in my opinion. Would still love to see one on the road tho.

The lock-up clutch is used to lock up the torque converter when its slip is low. This way the transfer of torque bypasses the torque converter so there are no torque converter losses anymore at cruising speeds or low load situations, which improves gas mileage. EDIT: bone was faster than me

The ME four-twelve sux big time! I hate the looks of that car, and that LED spree they went on when designing the lights, it's too too too vulgar!

Oh my god that McLaren looks so fucking boring I'm amazed...
Total lack of personality, might as well stick on a japanse car's logo and we'll have a candidate for the sequel of 2F2F!... (you'll have to put on the nasty styling offcourse) The shape is way to similar to the concept Mitsu Eclipse, and that shape is just so... toyish. Not cool, just like a little gokart. Which means it would probably be heavenly to drive, but so is a track-kitcar, and you don't want one do you? |
