Feel free to make suggestions or corrects to what ive written, but i was thinking about all these classic european cars getting modern remakes, and they started out as cheap, affordable, compact cars for the ppl.
ex. UK -> Mini, or Ford Cortina Germany -> the Beetle France -> the 2CV for the life of me i can't think of what would the 'people's cars' for US and JP, as well as various other nations. |

US- Ford Mustang, specifically the base 6-cyl and 283 V8 models, not the big-ticket 350s and big-blocks. Think about it, it still holds the world record for fastest million cars sold, and it put the baby boom generation on the road. There are loads of them still in existence, thanks to their huge popularity back then. Yes, it's nothing like the 4-cyl family cars that got Europe onto the road, but bear with me.
Unlike many countries mentioned above, the US had a relatively competitive auto market and a prosperous post-war economy. As a result, there wasn't one single company like Fiat or Volkswagen that dominated the cheap-car market, and there didn't need to be one, because enough people could afford a mid-sized Ford, Chevy, or Plymouth in the 1950s. The Fiat 500, VW Beetle, and Citroen 2CV were cheap alternatives to walking that got people driving, and the "people's car" was a concept the US didn't have-or need- in that decade. The American equivalent of the "masses", ie a bunch of people who were newly flush with cash and needed transportation, were teenage baby boomers, and the Mustang was the first to that market. |

In singapore cars are so expensive that people take these. BTW, they're latest batch of buses plying our raods, but 90% of our buses are still old
![]() ![]() Seriously, these horrid 1.6L things. The main reason why my dad changed out of this car was simply because it was overly common and mediocre! ![]()
