A rare deal 20,000. Should I go for it?

I'm tempted to go with the Honda, cheap and powerful. The problem is that it's a manuel and in USA it's hard to sell a manuel later on.

GTI I love it, it's just a little expensive

Subaru, good but expensive again

Miata, I couldn't believe that price I found. But I'm still think if it's too girly for me. And do I need the back seats.

Please feel free to make other suggestion...

Tough choice, i think either the Si or the GTI. they are both really fun to drive. I like the civic better, but thats just my opinion. Test drive them all.

What about the GTI manuel? I mean, manual...

Out of the four, I'd have to go with the GTI or WRX. Fun, practical, not too expensive. Mind you, the GTI would be more economical, cheaper insurance and less of a target for car thieves.

I pick the GTI.

My dad hates the GTI, and doesn't want to pay the half, just because it's German and thinks it will break down.

And he doesn't like manuel on the Si, because he thinks no one will buy it for a resale in the US. I test drove this, love the agility of it.

So basically what he is trying to tell me is that he doesn't want to buy a car for me images/smilies/lol.gif

Seriously he is just driving me crazy. I'll have to go to Mazda and Subaru dealer later on.

I personally love the GTI, because it's so special and will still be rembered as an icon.

EDIT: By my dad's standards a regular automatic Civic with 140 hp is the ideal car for me...what an insult

Considering you're driving a 13 year old car now and only thinking of changing it now, I assume you'll be driving this car for awhile, if you're going to drive it for another 13 years, I don't think resale value matters much when the car hits that age as it can't make that much of a difference

The Civic looks cool, but it's a Civic. images/smilies/thumbdown.gif

Go for the WRX or GTi.

you try to get that through my dad's head
I'm even willing to pay for half.
So far my top two choices are the GTI and Si. But I am tempted with the price of MX-5.

I totally agree, my car is 10 years old, and I'm thinking of trading it later this year (probably in the summer). I think my car won't be worth anything, unless I take it back to the dealer where I bought the car in the first place. Hope that will give me a better price on the car.

Personally I would choose the WRX or the Mazda. Nothing behind that other than I prefer anything over FWD images/smilies/biggrin.gif. The WRX would be a a fun car to throw around, and there's plenty of aftermarket for them. And for that price, the MX5 does sound great. Especially if you're in San Francisco, good place for a convertible.

Can't go wrong with the Miata. Screw the WRX, you don't have a wife or children yet.

GTi, you're probably most likely to get more money back at the other end.

Yeah, but it makes up for it. A Miata is like a 2nd car. It's not practical for a daily driver. In the winter, it's a pain due to the top (cold, rain, etc). You have a tiny trunk and can only give one friend a ride.

The WRX is sensible while still being fun. You can carry tons of crap (trunk + rear seats), be fine when it rains, etc.

Do you really want to deal with a softop? In 10 years, it'll be all leaky and such.

My vote:

1. WRX
2. Golf (a close 2nd, but it gets second for being a Golf -- hardly has the rep of a sporty car)
3. Civic (good car, but it's a Civic which is the kind of car my mom drives)
4. Miata

I'd go for the Impreza, best of the lot overall. The new Civic is a good car for commuting as I've driven one, but seeing what you chose you apparently want some fun. If the Si is like the normal Civic to drive, its not going to really bring out much fun.

if fuel not a problem I'd go for the wrx or the miata, the only downside to the miata is that there no room for images/smilies/hump.gif just kidding images/smilies/lol.gif

then the GTI

I dont like the look of the civic, the hatch version looks alot better.

Considering the "special price", I'd choose the Miata. Otherwise it would be
WRX
GTi
Si
MX-5

First of all you should really tell us what kind of a car you are looking for ? Now you have just listed four very different cars.

Will you anything else than go from point A to B ? Will you have to transport people/luggage often ? Are you likely to go on a tarck with it ? And so on and on it goes.

Think about what you are looking from a car. Do you want good fuel economy, does it have to be very reliable ? Then there is the resale value. Do you want a car that looks like it is going to rip your face off or do you desire something with a bit more sleeper factor ?

Shed some light into what type of a car you are looking for, then it is much easier to help you with your choice.

From those you listed I'd go for the Subaru all the way. I hate Civics, I do like the GTI but it's a hatchback, so there it goes down for me and the MX-5 isn't practical enough as an everyday car.

The WRX has four doors, therefore four seats, a big boot, lots power, great looks and most of all it is 4WD. And it will not brake down.

Impreza. Easily tunable, plenty of mods, goes like stink, is practical and so on.

Oh, and AWD. I like AWD.
