    Never trust a Sat-Nav

    Publically viewable and hilarious.

    Just to whet your appetites:

I was pottering along (thankfully not in the Skyline) the other day and following my sat-nav when it decided to direct me up a lane which was deemed "Not Suitable for Motor Vehicles" according to the road sign at it's entrance. Thinking this may spruce up an otherwise uneventful journey, I took this to be a challange.

So, around 2 miles in to the lane, I was bobbing along at a steady 40 and couldn't see what the bid deal was. Even the ex (although hardly the benchmark for intelligence and awareness) didn't notice anything to be out of the norm. Until I had to slow down for a corner - and sank:
Read the rest over there (not sure how they'd feel about me copying the whole lot over here)

Yup, two too many cars, but I love 'em:
1991 Peugeot 309 - owned it for four years, currently the only runner and the daily driver... but great fun to drive! French though, so gotta treat her rough to keep her happy.
1989 Toyota MR2 Mk1 - owned it for two years. Love it loads. Currently undergoing a suspension upgrade...
1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC - A project car that had Headgasket issues when I bought it. I've never driven it... yet...

So, it can't be defeated by bullets but can be defeated by a branch and thorns?

That mud was so thick and rutted I doubt even our Land Cruiser could have made it through. It might have done it if we could keep the speed up and aired down the tires.

Why do these people always blindly trust their Sat-Navs, don't they have any idea how they work?

I don't think so, I think it's just to weed out all the people who can't think for themselves and trust an electronic map to think for them.

Well with the crazy rodes of Europe I can see Sat-Nav failing a lot there. My sat navi in the merc has only really once tried to do something stupid, when i was working as a contractor for a defense company I used the Sat nav to pull direction to the golf course near my work.

Well at first it tried having me drive in thru a dead end road, and then it decided that the best was to cut to the golf course was to go thru the Air Force base near by, which I thought was be really funny for some poor soul because they dont like visitors. Because I was working for a defense contractor at the time and had access to the base, I was actually able to use the direction =P
