Default New Automotive Magazine Needs Name....

Before you ponder why there is no link here, let me tell you because the magazine doesn't exist yet.

I and a few of my friends are getting together to form an online automagazine, sorta like winding road (in that it'll be free...and online). The thing is, we will test cars, but I want this magazine to be open to the fans, the readers. I want the magazine centered around the person who is taking the time to go Bookmarks>(website).

So, if I want this to truely be a magazine for the readers, by the readers, I need a name for the magazine. One befitting of a proper automotive magazine, but not one that'll infringe on any currently published magazine. One that's not obscure, and doesn't sound like it's full of carbage.

So, FinalGear, what's in a name?

(and before you ask, yes, I got Viper's permission to post this, I just forgot to ask where to post it, but since automotive magazines seem to be posted here, why not).

Give us a rundown of what type of cars you will be testing. Any parts to tested? Accessories? All that stuff may try to ring a bell for me images/smilies/smile.gif.

Well, for now, it'll mainly be whatever dealerships will give me cars to drive. So probably cars that dealerships will let a 21 year old test drive. But I will be getting my name out there to the BMW and Ferrari dealerships and see if they'll give me a car (probably not, though...).

I've had an idea for testing parts and accessories, but that's a maybe.

I am thinking of having sort of a 'fan section' with reviews and the such from readers (yeah, I'm being lazy...).

And to capitalize on the cars that I won't be able to test drive, I'll have a special section dedicated to cars that "we would like to test drive, but probably never will."

I'll fill in more later...gotta get to class right now.

How about "Your Car"? Seeing as you're having reader reviews...
(Or "Your Gear" or something, though I guess that can be read the wrong way - as in Gear as in bags and gadgets etc...)

Why not just call it "Test Drive"? Seeing as you're going to be, well, test driving cars...

Some good suggestions, though I don't know if Viper would let me use the Final Gear marque. And I also don't want Atari to come after me for using the Test Drive name...

Some names my friends tossed at me were:

Motor News International
Daytona Auto Magazine
East Coast Car Magazine

Though I don't know about that last one...

Expanding on that, why not "verifichi l'azionamento"? That's "Test Drive" in Italian, y'know! images/smilies/tongue.gif

Seriously, why not use an automotive term?

"Oversteer Magazine". Sounds juvenile, expect lots of scantly-clad ladies next to BMWs doing donuts in high school parking lots. Or alternatively, "Countersteer Magazine". It'd have lots of angry people yelling at each other about why Toyota is better than GM or vice versa, much like the Autoweek forums. Or "Off-Camber Magazine", which would be all wierd and artsy and goth with lots of shitty ads from Scion. I should probably stop talking. You get the idea!

Smokin'?

Burnout?

Remember, you don't want something boring, you want something petrolhead orientated, and not mincy.

Redline?

Floor-it?

Well, the whole point of the magazine and posting the idea here was to get across the idea that the magazine was going to be founded upon the views of the readers. Which means, yes, you or anyone can contribute to the magazine.

I'll let this thread run to the end of the week...or untill it dies out, and I'll gather the names up and make a final decisive poll. From the looks of it though, a Final Gear Magazine seems to be the favored choice...

(Viper, if you're reading this, don't worry, I have someone who's giving me the webspace, so if the members here decide to have a final gear magazine, you won't have to worry about traffic or whatever other problems may occur).

Now that I think of it, we have members from all over the world (even Canada and the US get different cars) that a Final Gear magazine might be a very good choice. Get it going full blast and it could become a Global Car Magazine. That would be awesome.
