Default Original idea of practical idea? (fabricating stuff)

Hi guys, need to know your opinion on something. Trying to rebuild my exhaust and in the process i came into a bit of a problem. (skip to next paragraph if your don't want to read technical crap) I was going to build it in such a way that the one of the banks of the V6 engine would generate one type of (mid-pipe) rasp, and the other tailpipe rasp. aka i was going to mount one muffler near the back of the cabin and one near the front. I don't want to get too technical, but the reason I was trying to do this is to see if i could silence the raspyness using various techniques (after construction.)

The problem is space allows much better for just setting up the mufflers in such a way i know the car would sound better, which seems like a good thing, but if i go out of my way to do it as I had planned originally then theirs potentially more that i could learn from this.

So in short, learn more in the long run (knowledge), or do a easier job and come out with better results no-matter what (instant gratification)

If you've got the time and the money to play around with it, do it. Me, I'd go for the instant gratification option images/smilies/biggrin.gif.

You need to balance the pressures on each bank or it's going to run weird. Due to exhaust losing heat and velocity as it travels back, you're going to deliberately induce an imbalance by locating one muffler up front and one out back in a twin system.

Of course, it's a Tempo, so I'd guess it probably doesn't matter if it runs like garbage.

Bingo images/smilies/tongue.gif, actually i put them on evenly in the end because i decided it would be stupid to waste time on something i could more easily test on a 1st gen Miata. Plus I was sick and i didn't have much time left before the rain. Err i kinda botched it and have to rebuild it anyways.

Having ideas is one thing, getting a good finished product? Much harder said then done!
