Will I hurt the transmission if I do this? I'm not talking about downshifting to 2nd or 1st at high speeds, I'm talking about just some mild engine braking like if I built up too much speed on a downhill grade and the driver in front isn't going as fast, is it better to brake, or shift down and let the engine do the braking?

I know engine braking is used a lot on manual transmissions, but what about autos?

And what if I feel like shifting manually just because I'm bored or something? Is it gonna hurt my auto if I shift it like a manual, or is the manual shifting designed just for engine braking?
Haha, I used to do that all the time on my Sebring. I guess it would increase wear and tear.

After playing Forza for a while, I've discovered that I absolutely love the Renault Clio V6. Nobody ever seems to mention these cars...and I just can't help but wonder why. This is the definition of cool. If they sold them in the US I would have one in a heartbeat....

They really seem to be affordable too.
I wonder if any, like the Escort Cosworth, have made there way into the US....

Gran Turismo 2-4 convinced me of the same, then Top Gear reinforced it. It's just such a terrible idea for a car, and that makes it awesome.

I do beleive, if I remember correctly, my Toronado had a 22 gallon tank. I think it has more to do with the weight and size of a tank that is larger than 20 gallons.

Yes, but per the regs, only about 19 gallons was usable, the rest was slosh so it wouldn't run out of fuel in corners, IIRC. It's been a while, so I might be wrong.... on the other hand, it might just be one of those idiot Customs regs, too - that only affect imported vehicles.

The 1970 Mustang had a 22 gallon tank as well. It conveniently fits in the same spot as the tank from 65-69 Mustangs as well, just takes up a few more inches in the trunk.

Drove the Pathfinder down to Waco today, caught part of a great sunset.

I'm assuming that didn't/doesn't apply to trucks, and el caminos must have been considered a "truck." My Sprint has a 26 gallon tank. (Or did that regulation go into effect after 1973?)

Probably didn't apply to trucks until later, anyway.
