What does "shooting brakes" mean? Is it another way of saying "station wagon" or something?

Anyways, my favourite wagon conversion:

We discussed it a while ago, but I'm still obesessed with this car. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

That's 'cause it's the hottest station wagon ever!

Ya, Bone explained the BMW 3-door wagon in this thread: http://gear.viper007bond.com/forum/v...=1680&start=20.

Agh. That's one big post of horrible looking cars...

If I had to pick one out of those it propably would be the Audi Quattro. Apart from the bootlid it's rather OK.

That Gardner Douglas thingie looks pretty... shall we say interesting, too. I have seen worse designs...

when you say I drive a wagon... it doesn't make you feel like your 50... unlike Estate... makes you sound like you are driving a funeral car

Nearly all of these are pretty ugly, and look more like a design afterthought rather then designed from the ground-up. But I don't really consider the Saab 99 to be a "shooting brake" (more like a "fastback"-type design), and that'll be the one I'd choose from all these, or either the '55 Chevy Nomad.
