Default Spy Shot: Volkswagen Golf Freestyle

Yet another offspring from the flexible Golf platform, this jacked-up 4x4 has been codenamed Freestyle, and it is due for launch at the Frankfurt motor show in September. To sit under the Touareg in VW's off-piste offerings, it will employ Volkswagen's 4Motion four-wheel drive system. It's intended as a serious mud-plugger (not a faux-4x4 like the Polo Dune) and will finally give Volkswagen a contender in the mid-size off-roader market dominated by Nissan's X-Trail and Land Rover's Freelander. The body is similar to that of the newly-launched Golf Plus, though the Freestyle sits much higher than this semi-MPV Golf variant.

i don't know what to say ... i'm speechless ... normally when this happens with a car, it's usually because i'm in awe of it's beautiful look, but in this case, i think it's because i just regurgitated my dinner images/smilies/lol.gif

it's strange tho, b'cuz it reminds me of different cars on the road, like a shrunken lexus sc430, or a really long smart car, baby toureg? hehe .. either way it's an eyesore

I would have to agree with zenon, if that's the production body, but it may not be, they may doing what Ferrari did w/the Scag. body and the 575 replacement.

Yeah, at first I thought that was a pretty poor disguise. Then I realised, that was what the actual car looked like. images/smilies/yucky.gif

Even the test drivers are looking at the camera going "What did we do to deserve this?"

Yeah it looks like they had a clay model that they left outdoors. It rolled into a wall and no one noticed, so they built it as is. images/smilies/lol.gif

My new car is crap.
It looks like a polo.
It can't go with the flow.
You can't race with it,
I have to admit.
It's the worst VW ever seen,
now get me some more caffiene.

That hood is so short, it looks like a crippled duck images/smilies/biggrin.gif
Well that won't ever make it to production, VW has hopefully some quality control.

As horrible as it looks, it's not totally unexpected either. VW has a Offroad tradition with the Golf.
