Default Stupid Vauxhall driver cause huge pile up on Motorway

It’s an old video. 15 years old to be precise. But still interesting to watch, I suppose...images/smilies/unsure.gif

Enjoy! images/smilies/wink.gif

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K6XUvpo0lrQ

The Vauxhall Cavalier was not an American Chevrolet Cavalier with a griffin badge and chromed V on the grille.

Here’s a pic of a Cavalier Hatchback MK3 similar to the one on the video

http://img100.imageshack.us/img100/9930/vxcavalierjt0.jpg

I must apologize, for the quality of the pic. Basically, it was a Vauxhall version of the old Opel Vectra A built from 1988 to 1995. How mindblowingly boring is that? Very...images/smilies/zzz.gif

unfortunately no audio, so I couldn't figure out what they were saying in the background. They were obviously pointing at something in the back at the end ... probably the fact that the cross-road rig pretty much caused a ton of crashing behind it I suppose.

I like how people just go for the hard shoulder at the first sign of a cue

^well, that's the smart thing to do in a possible chain-collision actually ... you just get out of the way so the guy behind you doesn't smash into your back ... and hopefully he'll notice the pile-up in front and has enough time to break ... or he'll pull on the shoulder too and the guy behind him will stop safely.
That's what you're supposed to do to leave out of something like this safely... just get out of the way.

^^ I thought you should turn on your warning lights and break as softly as possible.. Some of those people who went for the hard shoulder where two lanes from it and cut in front of a lot of people.. It did not seem very clever too me images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Trying to do that on a high-speed highway with a crash only meters from you might get you killed though ... that's why it's the smart thing to do, although not the correct thing to do ... some laws are meant to be broken in order to save your own neck images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Someone's asleep at the wheel (actually there's quite a few drivers being caught out there - regardless of the badge on their cars)
