I think they stopped selling the Katana here in 2001 but the name has now been given to some shitty scooter.

Here in Brazil, it ever was (and still is) only a GSX-F.
I miss mine.![]()
Damn I hate Kansas weather. Yesterday it was almost 60F ... and now it's snowing. And it's supposed to keep snowing on and off for a few days.
Why God? Whhyyyyyy?!?![]()
Anyone else getting snowed in after prepping their bike for spring?
The bikes were filthy after the winter riding we've been doing - and with summer here it's time to get them cleaned up so we can pose at the local Starbucks*.
* - not really
And Tiff wanted a few of both her toys:
Around here, we call this the BARF* Salute.

I love me some Barf! Haven't been on there in awhile though![]()
Kind of let up perusing the forums after I sold the bike. Need to get another one though
My buddy just got an XR600 which I need to ride soon![]()

Both bikes look good. Congrats!![]()
Only a little longer until I can get that Triple back into the sunlight!
I'm going today to look at a beat-up Yamaha Razz moped, for $150. I'm hoping to get it for $100, I'll keep you guys posted. Just something fun to **** about on, especially if gas prices go back up, given that the beloved Triple gets 15mpg...
Edit: Epic $100 moped acquired. Pics to come when the weather improves.
Nevermind, took some anyway!
So we went to the (closed, sadface) Triumph dealer and saw the Street Triple through the window in black and one in green. The green is even better than I imagined it would be. We're going back Tuesday, and I am going to be so sad when I don't leave with it.
Yeah, the Speed Triple looks sexy as hell in the white pearl and the metallic green.

Got myself a Givi E340 Topcase for the little Ybbie.
Yay for boring practicality
And since the weather is finally getting better again, I gave it a good cleaning, to make it all shiny and nice again.
More pics over there.![]()
So my friend is finally taking a crack at restoring his father's 1970 BMW R60/5. It's been sitting around for about 10-20 years in the basement, and it's in pretty rough shape. My friend's father changed the compression to meet emissions regulations, but was still able to keep up with Jaguars and Corvettes (until he hit a guardrail on the highway doing 70 and had to spend a few months in the hospital). It's a really cool vintage motorcycle and he's worried about BMW parts prices, but doesn't have anything better to do over the summer and is partially motivated by my own project.
I'm so happy for him. It's like seeing a friend become a dad for the first time.![]()
Me too! Two rides over a nice sunny weekend, plus an evening on the deck with friends and beer. Now it's back to snow. Bah!
Ugh.
Right, so, I just had my first bike crash... a first I had hoped to avoid a bit longer...
Was riding home in the dark (just after sundown), on a relatively busy street. The car in front of me turned right, and another car in the sidestreet, waiting to turn left, pulled out and cut me off. I instictively hit the brakes, hard, and BAM, I'm off, lying on the right side of the bike. My guess is I locked the front wheel...
Anyway, I got off lightly, bruised thigh and a squeezed toe.
The lady that cut me off was very apologetic and kept saying she just didn't see me... the cops that came to the scene said the course of events was clear cut, she was at fault for violating my right of way.
The bike's got (as far as I can tell) only a few scrapes and scratches, nothing serious, I could still ride it home.
Still very shaky though... I don't even want to think about what could have happened there![]()
Well, it's good at least that you and your bike are still in good shape. That really sucks, though. People just don't watch out for motorbike riders...

Apparently my bike has been around the block!
It's amazing what a small world it is out there. Just this week, my father accompanied a friend out to Windham to help him pick up a Kawasaki 454 Ltd. The gentleman who was selling the bike also had a Suzuki GS1100. My father, making small talk, mentioned that we bought a Kawasaki Triple last year, and the guy says "A purple one?" I rode that bike! That guy's one of my best friends! Turns out, although they are something like fifty miles away, this man and the previous owner of my triple are great friends.
Just today, we brought the bike to a man named Pete here in Laconia who runs his own shop to repair the wristpin bearing. As he's helping us unload the bike, he says "This bike looks familiar..." I figured he's seen it around town or something. Turns out he owned it for four years, he sold it to "...a guy in Pittsfield, who was getting it for his son." The guy sold it to us because, while an avid motorcycle enthusiast, his son didn't want the bike.
The only reason we wound up meeting Pete is because one of my father's friends, who is a few hours away, recommended him to make the repair.
It's amazing what a small world it is.
So over at BARF we have some Drama a-brewin'.
Cliff Notes:
One of our riders nearly gets taken out by a silver 350Z passing on a blind corner.
He posts a rant about it, thinking that's the end of it.
BARFers take it upon themselves to track the guy down.
Incriminating YouTube video (now removed, but not before it was saved), and three forums later the dick-cheese registers on our forums to explain himself. Ownage ensues.

Enjoy.

Wow, Z owners really are young, cocky douchebags.
