Default The most beautiful car ever

I've been thinking (when i saw the most beautiful saloon car thread), have we ever done the most beautiful car ever?

I've tried searching but all i found was the ugliest car ever (I am drunk right now so i might have missed something...).

If we haven't - we should, like Overheat did with the top cars of the sixties....

This feels like a repost but I'd rather go searching for pictures of beatuiful cars than some moldy old thread. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

I'm sure this is a repost, but I can't locate it.

What was that beautiful coupe from the 1920s or 1930s with the split window and suicide doors? It had fully faired rear wheels and amazing streamlining. I'm having a brain-fart right now.

You are perhaps thinking of the Bugatti Type 37? I think this is the most beautiful car ever.

Contrary to popular opinion, I actually think cars are better looking now than ever... Anyway, I'm gonna try something different here, and say:

...though I think this one may take 1st place (cliche but you can't deny it)

Allright, I just have to know now... why do so many people think the E-type is so stunning?

- the wheels are hiding underneath the body, which in itself is hideous
- the windscreen pops straight up and disturbs the lines completely, looks like it's about to break in the middle
- don't even get me started on the coupe, but since you posted the droptop I'll lay off it hehe

Don't get me wrong, I think it looks decent... but just the points above make it very hard for me to understand why it's the best for so many people. If the windscreen was more tilted, and if they'd pull out the lower sides and widen the track to meet the wheel arches I'd be tempted to understand...

Please enlighten me here images/smilies/smile.gif

You need to stop looking at it as a form of transportation, that is not it's purpose. To put it crudely, it is rolling artwork. The lines are dramatic yet gentle, it's stance is aggressive yet feminine, and the center spine could be seen as the blending of industry and culture, as seen through out the Type 57's era, the 1930's. This was a time, an era, when ordinary gas stations were designed by artistic architects, where the purpose was to be both practical and beautiful.. This Bugatti is...beautiful industry.

Type in Google image search the words "art deco", to better understand the meaning of this Bugatti.

and

Though this is one of thetoughest questions to answer. There are so many. I could easily make this a long list.

No, I don't think so. I don't think it had that spine down the roof, the windscreen was more swept and peaked in the middle (not as flat). It is very similar. I thought it was Aero or something along those lines, it is very Art Deco in design.

Here's the best looking car that I can think of at the moment, and it's one of my absolute favorite cars ever: the Auburn Speedster.
