The new model has a curvier profile than the current model, and sports the more appealing, modern face of the new Golf.

In the US, the Jetta will be fitted with a 2.5-litre V5 with 150bhp, although it's unlikely we would see that engine here. Expect to see top end engines from the Golf range fitted including the 2.0-litre 148bhp FSI and 138bhp TDi. The latter will be offered with the DSG gearbox as found in the Audi A3. Interior space is said to be up and the Golf's multi-link suspension will be fitted to improve driving dynamics.

The Bora may not sell in huge numbers in the UK, but Jetta's a considerable player Stateside - 2.2 million have found owners in its 25-year life and is the best-selling European car in the US. The Jetta is to be built at VW's Puebla, Mexico plant, where the original Beetle went out of production just last year.

We expect to see the European-spec Bora at the Geneva Motorshow in February 2005. Prices have yet to be announced, but are expected to be around £700 over similarly specified Golfs.
I'm quite surprised at how big it is in America!

How would they do a V5? Could that be an inline 5 cylinder?

looks like a cross between a Nissan altima (side shot) a toyota camery (rear short) and chrysler sebring (front shot)

doesnt look BAD.. but it doesn't look like a jetta.. it looks like something nissan/toyota would make.. and then sell to GM

Yeah, a lot of people in Canada too own a Jetta. Or a Passat. Or a Golf. I can't go a signle day without seeing atleast one of those... more often Golfs and Jettas with the occansional Passat.

The styling doesn't do much for me. It's no better than the current MkIV Jetta which I like. Just bloated, bland, and forgettable, IMO.

The US Market is the only reason why the Bora/Jetta stille exists, it is not selling THAT good in Germany, and over here it is considered more as a car for old housewifes or retired people. Although with the new styling I think younger people might get more attracted.

I see so many Jettas and Golfs every day that it stinks. I like the older one better than that, though images/smilies/wacko.gif
