Default The worst car you have ever driven

I don't want to know about your dad or your uncles, cousins, brother on your moms side. You and only you what is the worst car you have ever personally driven.

For me a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire that blew a conecting rod threw the side of the block. Then the oil on the Hot exaust started a whole new set of problems. The car was slow, uncomfortable, small, had electrical bugs (That you had to punch the dash to fix, Even more fun when it was your headlights that go out at night), It handled like a salior at the end of a 4 day drunk. It leaked everything but Gas most of all. And even though it was a 4dr making anyone sit in the back seat would be considered Cruel and unusual puninshment in most courts of law.

A Pontiac Sunfire in my driving school. The interior was poorly put together and the engine had no pull. The seats had no lateral support.

The only other car I've ever driven is a Honda Civic. THe seats and interior are good, the engine is not powerful but at least it revs higher.

1988 Dodge Aries. The single most gutless car ever, I could probably have outrun it on a lawnmower. Everything about it was awful.

2005 Dodge Neon base model, rental
2005 Dodge Caravan base model, rental

I destroyed the Neon within 24 hours and got the Caravan as a replacement.

Also, my mom has a 1992 Lebaron Convertable that was pretty terrible. Or that late 80's Ford Escort a friend of mine had.

LOL, a friend of mine bought a 80's Aries, by far the biggest heap of junk I've ever ridden in. Now as far as driving one, that honor would go to the Fiat 126P with a customary broom-stick ignition.

Worst old beater was a 80's cavalier, and the worst new car was a hertz ford mustang (v6).

Worst modern car:
I am going to define modern as cars built after the year 2000 as there really is a huge differance between cars fom the 90's an cars from the 2000's.

Worst Modern Car 2006 R500 Mercedes. OMG nothing in the right place for ergnomics I kept hitting the cruise control stalk when I tried to hit the blinker stalk. Which was bad because the cruise control was set on 55 and when I hit the cruise control stalk I engaged resume and the car surged forward.

The car had five or six maybe seven different stalks on the stupid column because of the column shifted automatic and the cruise control having its own stalk and the voice control having its own stalk.

The wheelbase was wrong in someway like it was too long for the body type. It felt like you hit bumps five or six times instead of the nice chushy ride a long wheelbase car should give you.

No throttle response at all and yes I had it in first gear not second like the transmission normaly starts in.

Worst car from the 80's/90's:

A friend of mine's Dodge Spirit...

http://auto.consumerguide.com/images/autoreview/400x266/1990-95-Dodge-Spirit-91103451990718.JPG

It felt like it was running on two cylinders. You had to neutral drop the transmission to get it moving. It burned almost as much oil as gas. In fact the entire back of the car was covered in soot from the exhaust. Everytime you took a corner it was a question if the car was going to turn or just come apart in the middle like Herbie from the Love Bug.

Edit I am sensing a Late 80's early 90's chrysler trend here!!!!!

i would have to choose between a battered ford transit mk4 and a fiat cinquecento with a huge subwoofer in place of the rear seats. i absolutely enjoyed driving both though, so i feel unable to choose between the two. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Worst car I've ever driven? That has to be a Chevrolet Uplander people-carrier. My Nissan was at the body shop having some dents repaired and that's what they gave me

. Uplander was the most revolting car ever, it was cheaply made from bad materials, engine made a horrible shriek above 3,000rpm, brakes were so grabby it felt like my head was going to come off, yet the stopping distance was pathetic. I could literally feel the car flexing when the sliding door closed, it was like an accordion. Don't even get me started on the interior... ughimages/smilies/puke.gif

Brand-new 2007 Dodge Magnum. Rented it with 45 miles on the clock, thought it would be good enough for a 800 mile round trip.

Uh, good lord no.

To its credit, it was comfy, big, and quiet, which my four passengers liked. In sharp maneuvers, it hunkered down after a bit of body roll, and probably could've handled well, though with a bit of understeer. Those are all the good points.

Bad points: Steering was the most vague POS ever. It felt like giving directions to a teenager:

"Go a bit left"
OK
"No, not that far left!"
Gosh! Why didn't you say so?
"I did say...oh never mind"

It had the 2.7L V6 and 4-speed automatic, which meant that a) it was freakin' slow, b) the transmission kickdown was crazy loud and still slow, and b) highway mileage at 80mph was only around 22 MPG. Plus it had a plastic intake manifold. I'll say it again, a plastic intake manifold. And the brakes were mushy and didn't inspire any confidence

As for the interior, it wasn't completely crap, except for a few bits that betrayed a massively penny-pinching approach in design. The indicater and cruise control stalks covered up the left-turn and other lights on the instrument panel. There was no passenger-side grab handle, and the steering wheel felt pathetic. The covering had less grip than the handle on my kitchen spatula. On top of that, there were four bits of shiny dollar store plastic on the steering wheel spokes that blinded me with glare. That is, there would've been four if I hadn't been driving the base model. They, incredibly, skimped on two pieces of shittacularly cheap plastic, just to make the driving experience even more terrible.

So no, not all crap Chryslers were made ~20 years ago. They're still keeping that grand tradition going today. By the time that weekend was over, I was almost hugging my MR2.

Chevy Beretta. No doubt the most uncomfortable car I'll ever drive. I'm 5'7 and it felt like it had no head room. It had absolutely no place to rest my arms. The sunroof leaked like crazy (if we had a few days of rain there would literally be 2 inches of water on the floor) In order to fully press the clutch I had to sit so the enormous steering wheel was in my chest (kinda like in NASCAR). The gearing in it was laughable.

It also had a curse on me. The shifter cable broke when I tried backing out of a parking spot. The wiper fell off when I was doing 70mph in the rain at night. (Not fun) I had a tire explode on the same freeway. And to top it all off I crashed it today!

My girlfriend's Citroën AX K-Way, like this one:

http://foto.spullenbank.nl/common/img/00/00/03/28/_T32841.jpg

I-4, 954 cm³, 45hp/71Nm, 4-speed, 135/70SR13...

I also drove this for summer jobs, a Citroën C15D:

http://www.write-on.co.uk/c15-2.jpg

But it's still faster and stronger than the AX.

2000 Mk1 Toyota RAV4. Our previous car. It was sold new in 2000, while having a chassis from 1991.

It had the unique characteristics of being seriously uncomfortable, rolling badly, not being stable past 80kmh (50mph), the interior makes me think of bad weather in northern sweden and English food. It was cramped, the seats were as comfortable as a punch in the nose, the stereo was crappy, it used a gazzilion litres of petrol, for a car of its size, it had very little baggage space, and it looked just.. weird.

Sure, it had locking diffs, which were nice once we got stuck, but pretty unnessesary in every other situation.

Really, I got sick when thinking of what cars we could've bought for the same prize. Sick.

Worst car, purely technicaly would be our Suzuki SJ413, it accelerates like a cucumber, rides like a shopping trolly and handles like a cow.

But to be honest, I love driving it. It's sort of fun, you can get scared at 60kmh, it feels lively. Actually, it can powerslide. Almost rolled it going round a corner at 15kmh (10mph), but avoided it by trashing my body to the other side of the car, and it went back to being a car, not a bicycle.

It has to be a 1.0 liter Gol (that's not a typo, it's "Gol", not "Golf").
Since most of you probably have no idea what it is, here goes:http://www.carrosnaweb.com.br/imagensbd12af21%5Cgol-1000-94.jpg

Its was either a 2005 Renault Clio (the smallest footwell i've ever had the displeasure of trying to fit my size 10s into)

http://www.renault.cz/www_vozy/clio/design/_auto_1.gif

OR

My 1998 Vauxhall Corsa GLS which felt like a tank, had the most vague and stiff accelerator pedal ever and shook like a dog left outside in the rain for a day

It still looks wider than my girlfriend's 135mm width; the Gol was a big success in South America.

I am not sure which one these is was worst, they were both equally bad. Friends VW Jetta and my uncles VW Polo, both from the 80s. Both had the gearshifters from hell. On the Polo I literally used atleast 15 minutes before I could find reverse and on the Jetta you had to be really lucky if you could find 1st on the first 5 tries images/smilies/smile.gif I could not feel the slots at all.
One of my mom's friends has horrible Nissan Almera. Could not feel at all when the clutch is gonna bite.

It would have to be the mid 1980s GMC van that my hospital used for deliveries. It was gutless, loud, ugly, top heavy, prone to oversteer while feeling disconnected from the road, the stereo was broken and only one speaker worked anyway, the brakes were shot and the rotors were warped.

Worst Vehicle Ever.

I had my car in for a service, and the loan car was a N12 Nissan Pulsar, 3 speed automatic, no power steering, and by my deductions, a 0.16 litre engine.

http://www.ratdat.com/history/1973to1982/images/1982_n12_4dr.jpg

It was absolutely the most gutless piece of shit I have ever driven, the automatic transmission lurched into gear whenever it stopped, or moved, or accelerated. It veered to the left, so you had to hold down one spoke of the steering wheel with your right thumb.

It had also been in an accident, and for some reason, they placed the front bumper on it upside down, so it looked ridiculous.

The worst, however, was being seen driving in it. I wished I could spray paint "IT'S NOT MINE!!!" down the side of the car.
