Default US of A vs. Ze Germans vs. Nippon vs. Bella Italia

I'm getting tired of all the various threads, so let's settle this once and for all in good old Finalgear manner - WITH A POLL!

What's your favourite automotive philosophy: American Muscle, German Engineering, Japanese High-Tech or Italian Passion?

Remember, this is not about the Nissan GT-R being faster around the Nürburgring than a Z06 or if solid axles are outdated or similar shenanigans, we've had dozens of them. It's about which way of making a car you prefer. This way, when arguments about that question turn up in the future, everybody can just refer to this thread and hopefully there will be no more pages after pages full of fanboi-ish moaning and groaning.

I do believe in a FG-Utopia where the boundaries are defined and everybody has the opportunity to keep his view (concerning this topic) happily to himself. Because let's just face it: Nobody has ever changed another persons oppinion over the internet.

Definitely should've been a multi choice. But then again I probably would've clicked them all

I dont think I can choose just one.

Used to be japanese high tech because i was an immature gadgets nerd, but now its german driving dynamics and refinement. Italian 'soul' costs too much $$ and isn't really avail here and american muscle...well it just runs counter to my tastes and personal philosophy. I prefer class and style over brute power.

Used to be Japanese High-tech for me, but current offerings from BMW and Porsche have won me over for now. Although if there was a British Anorexia option I might pick that.

It's hard to say all have pro's and con's I would have to say I prefer Ze Germans because they seem to have the most balanced cars of all.

American muscle + British handling has always been my favorite (AC Cobra, GT40, Etc.) but since that's not on the poll I went with American Muscle.

Ummm.....not one fo them. I choose the secert option: German muscle....RS, AMG, M...I say this because I reeeeeally don't put these in the same box with the whole idea of boring but down to being anal about details engineering that so often is the common stereotype with german automotiveindustry.

Because I do love the muscle...the hard core, no nonsense, brutal, loud and sooooo desireable big V8s, V10s and V12s. However as much as I love the pure and simple "loLZleefsprigZAh!pushrodZZ" Corvettes, Camaros and Challengers, I'm not so sure I would choose them over the german "equivalents". Because nowadays, especially AMG has got perhaps THE sexiest sound of them all, when talking about big V8s. The germans have that understated sleeperfactor in their cars. The american car industry is bit more.....shouty. And I like it yes....but even more I like the idea of leaving some punk ricer kid eating my dust in a huge family sedan, if this forementioned kid wants to challenge me, thinking he will get a good laugh out of it.

So no, I'm not going to vote. Just my 2 cents...

I prefer the way the British make a car, the handling finesse and lightness. Since that's not listed, it's closest to the German way.

I prefer British enthusiasm, which would be some sort of inbetween of German engineering and Italian passion. So now I got confused and ended up voting Japanese high-tech...

Can't really vote on this either. Every option includes cars I love and cars I dislike.

It would either come down to Muscle or High-Tech, as the other options are good for bragging rights only.

Good point, the british car philosophy is fundamentally different from all the categories above, shame it was omitted.

Having said that i still would vote german. lightweight, modestly powered british sports cars aren't my style either.

I voted German Engineering, but with an *.

I do prefer German cars. However, I like my bikes to be Italian.

Ze Germans. They may not make the prettiest cars, but their cars are fast and reliable. This can also apply to american cars, but most american cars fail on interior design (cup-holders are not the most important thing in a car you know...)

German engineering. I am sick and tired of hearing Italian passion because they can make a car with bad reliability and driving dynamics but they get a free pass which nobody else can get because of 'passion and soul' most of the time.

I'd love to add the brits, but since the traditional british sportscar is basically not existant anymore today, I thought no. Which is a shame obviously, I'd have even voted for them! images/smilies/sad.gif

Oi you plucky brits, stop living in the past and retrieve/rebuild your car industry for heavens sake!!

It's hard to derive a philosophy from just one car and since Volvo doesn't start to build little Koenigseggs for the people I don't think that will change.
