Any videos?
Father, brother and I went to a vintage race day held at Blackhawk Farms, up in VERY northern Illinois (almost Wisconsin). A few of our customers had their cars out, so it seemed like the perfect reason to go. I had a hard time figuring out which forum this should go in, motorsports or photography, so it goes in here. 120 pictures or so, video to maybe come later.

Nice photos, love the alfas!

Great pics thanks - I went to my first Vintage car event a couple of weeks ago with my little boy - it's great fun.
wow thats just great fun to see those vintage cars, just love them
I never been to a vintage car race, but i love to go someday.

It's pretty sweet. Also amusing when the old school Volvo's and whatnot go tearing around the track with a SCREAMING loud exhaust...with only 40 HP. Video I'll get to tonight after I'm done with work.
I think this thread has been up long enough for me to post this without me looking like a bit of a prick hijacking your thread![]()
Here are the photos I took when I went with my son to the Jersey Motor Festival (all vintage cars - some seriously old ones) and Vintage Car Hill Climb.

422If you enjoy that, I suggest going up to Road America for the Spring Vintage Fest, the Brian Redman Challenge, and the Fall Vintage fest.

0OK, here's the video. I threw it together pretty much un-edited because I hate this new video editor I got after my last HDD crashed. I'm not used to videotaping high-speed objects like this, so it gets a little jumpy at times.
You'll notice some cars get more air-time than others. That's due to the fact that they're known to us (in some cases, the engines were built by my father).
Case in point: the red Lotus Europa (#144) was a car my father used to own and raced back in the 60's and 70's.

0Well that can be its own issue, the main objection is that theirs no good reason for modern cars NOT to sound awesome, all the details that make a car sound crappy are easily corrected with just a tad bit of thought, and none of it has to be at the expense of power. I mean back in the 70s it seemed like regular manufacturers and engine designers were literally racing each-other to see who could make the most awesome sounding engines, now the only companies that seem to care are Aston, Lambo, and VW/Porsche. Everybody else just seems like they forgot what makes a engine sound great and spend all their time making psuedo-masculine sounds using techniques that most teenagers pick up on. I guess what i'm trying to say is that i have a hard time imagining somebody like Giuseppe Busso making it in the current Corperate world, when infact people like him should be the ones laying the blueprints and calling the shots.
PS: Whats that red race car with the sleek mid engine looking body? (right before the first time the 144 Europa passes by)
I'll have to dig out my Rolex Vintage Festival pictures from approx. 2 years ago, they're all on grainy film and I should probably rescan the 35mm strips.
Here's one, at least:
