What do you think is the absolute worst car ever and for what reasons?
Remember that a really worthless car would not only have to be slow and generally stupid, it would also have to be plain boring. The Trabant for example: it is totally hopeless in almost every way, but it can still be found interesting since it is a piece of culture. So what do I think is the worst car ever? Good question. I'd prioritize the boring part, so it would be something really convetional as well as unreliable and painstakingly slow. I'm thinking early asian cars. To bad I don't know much about the asian car industy first steps. Has anyone got any ideas? And mods: I'm sorry if there already is a thread about this. I've tried searching, but I am simply not gonna look through 24 pages of hits on "worst car ever". |

Chevy Monte Carlo, the current one. It wasn't even that pretty, or good, or refined, when it came out in 6,359 B.C., much less today. 240hp out of a supercharged 3.8l V6? Need I say more?
Maybe not the worst car ever, though, since I'm sure some Brits can name a slew of BL products.

i would say that the older Grand Am's are just terrible cars and the '96 is easily the worst car that i've been in/driven before. But i would say that the Yugo 45 is pretty damn terrible

1985 mercury marquis. I had one so mabee i'm biased
3.somthine litter v6 but still had no guts 3spd c4 with overdrive (baahhhhh) It was two tone brown/darker brown the plastic on the interior when left in the arizona sun would become sticky .. like guuey.. As in the steering wheel left residue on my hands In the same contitions the metal seat belts would be good for a 3rd degree burn at 13000 miles the head warped. at 49k miles the tranny died. and 49k miles plus 2 years.. junk for jesus got it. http://home.earthlink.net/~lonnie77/...W_2076_JFR.JPG no scratches, no dents, no abusive driving. Just a POS And thus ends my tribute to a crappy car. |

a 93 Toyota corolla!!! Damn was that car a POS...OMFG i just remembered how bad it was! Steering, ride/handling, engine, and ugh... the styling
looked like a Fvking jelly bean..so many things wrong about the car not even enough that Im too lazy to lst em all See what really gets me is that so many people bought these, I really hated this car. I had a total of 8 hours behind the wheels of one of these things, for driver training.

My friend had one of those, he rather liked it. He once managed to oversteer into a corner, no idea how he did it, but it scared me shitless cause he can't drive. I wouldn't knock the engine either, it was relatively peppy for a 1.8.
No the worst car ever was my 88 Dodge Ram. V6 engine with only 3 or so cylinders working at any given time and a top speed of 78. Oh and it occasionally stalled when turning the steering wheel at idle.

pontiac fiero, especially the "iron duke" 4cyl 2.4L 83hp. thats 83 hp for 2.4L
the v6 i looked at was slightly better but it had 73000 original miles and the engine was pretty much almost dead. all the seals were leaking oil, the engine shook and sounded terrible, the exhaust had leaks, the auto tranny was skipping gears by 1, 2 or even 3 gears (4 total). almost the entire car was urathane rubber on the outside, great when i took a wooden bat to it (the car wasnt even mine hah!) for fun but not if you wanna keep it. the v6 fiero is actually alot of fun to drive and has character but its SLOW, does not brake at all, and is a horrible design. i cant imagine the 4cyl.. Edit: i should add, the 1984 fiero is the most glorious one. they released it a year early to put it as an indy pace car and the 1984 cars catch fire almost certainly (the later years dont catch fire so predictably)

um well put it this way, i like good cars. Am I bias? Sure a little but who isn't? I was born and raised in America by Filipino parents who just happen to have purchased a large amount of American cars throughout the years. So I love trucks, SUVs, fire breathing muscle cars and on top of that, anything that is stylish, radiates passion, and goes like stink. Oh and I also admire cheap performance. About the Toyota I was only sharing what I thought was a bad car, for the reasons I stated in my post above. But your right about the Corolla being reliable/low maintenance, that's a given and i agree. That technically makes it a good car from an average person's point of view, but is it a good car? Being an enthusiast I couldn't stand it.

yeah, KIA and DAEWOO is really boring, uninspiring and just plain ugly.
especially DAEWOO Kalos & Matiz.....WTFOMGBBQDDR they're underpowered and they actually can make a filmsy chassis that is not coping with the minuscule power. i can't agree on hyundai though, some of their car is pretty good i'd say. Tiburon is pretty nice, Accent has an acceptable engine, the new mid sedan is pretty nice too (dunno the name) btw, you OZs will have the Kalos badged as Holden AFAIK.....good luck with that one
