In the same class (if comparing against the 325i or 330i on price), I'd be tempted to buy the Audi or the Alfa 159.
If comparing against the 320i (for $50k AUD), I'd probably buy an XR6 Turbo (even though it's a bigger car). Personally, I don't like the lower end BMW's (like the old 318i's), just a bit too much poser's cars for me.
Dannezza Trazza:
The Alfa 159 looks best IMO. But I would get an Alfa GTA (3.2). The Alfa GT is pretty cool too.
I like the looks of the Audi A3 too. And those SMG gearboxes seem cool. And then there is VW Golf GTI.
A Subaru would be fun. But I really don't like the styling of pretty much any asian cars. Maybe the Honda NSX as an exeption.
PS. who's Fezza?
0a burrito.What would you get instead of a 3-series?
0If I had to forego a 3 series? Probably an IS. My two choices would be a 325i or an IS250AWD (only because of the way they package the IS here).
I have a Leagcy GT Limted and i personally think its an amazing car. (not biased at all /sarcasim). Though obviously a G35 would be alot better in the Luxery rating, the Legacy is a good mix and a big plus factor is....its a sleeper! Stock times from 0-60 is (unless you do Autoweek's amazing launch at 5.1 seconds) its about 5.5ish. With engine managment, Uppipe, and downpipe. you can get around a soild highish 4 seconds.
So far with 5000 miles, the build quailty is pretty good, then again its japanese. can't see anything to bad with this beast of a car, the legacy.

26I am not going to defend him, that was one of the stupidest fucking comments I have ever heard. But I will say the problem with the stock VQ35 engines are the freestanding bores, they are weak and can only with stand something like 16psi, and any more than that, (actually probably even 16psi at WOT for a long period of time, such as track days) will cause the cylinders to "walk" causing all sorts of damage. That is why most boosted VQ35s worth any salt are built motors with steal sleeves replacing the freestanding bores. Now that being said, 16psi is a signifigant amount of boost preasure in its own right and would definitely be noticable, hell even 8psi would be one hell of a kick.Originally Posted by The_Finn
If I were looking at a car in this segment, it would be for pure enjoyment and I would spend less and get a FD RX-7 chassis and throw a Corvette LS1/2/6 engine with a T-56 tranny in it. The LS(X) engines only weigh 20lbs more than the rotary, more all motor HP potential(some fully built crate motors are putting out over 700HP at the crank, but 400HP right out of the box ain't bad either), have a lot more torque, and are reliable as hell.

Agreed. I was at the dealer a few days ago, and I wanted to try sitting in the back seat of the IS, but at the end I stayed out b/c I didn't want to embarrass myself when I try to step out of the car and end up hitting my head, or tripping over the edge.Originally Posted by xtasy127
I'm so frustrated. Regardless of the fab new infiniti G35, the 3-series is still the better car and therefore, the one I would have in 330i form.
54Subaru Liberty (Legacy) Blitzen Wagon or a Holden VE Calais V8 6.0L. Berry red with cream leather![]()

458Is Tran just posting in everything that comes up when he searches "BMW 3-series" or something?

I don't see much point in resurrecting this thread. Its old now.# Bumping old topics: This is NOT allowed in most cases, especially if you have nothing to add to the thread except a random comment. In most cases, it's better to just make a new thread, but use your best judgment. Threads in "Specific Episode Discussion" and "What's That Song?" can be bumped of course though.
