If you have the bankroll to buy a Rolls-Royce Phantom, here's what you could stash in your garage for the same sum:
1. Honda Accord LX V-6 ($25,100) 2. Mazda MX-5 Grand Touring ($24,995) 3. Ford F-150 XLT 4x4 ($26,853) 4. Chevrolet Corvetter Z06($65,690) 5. Cadillac SRX V-8 AWD ($46,890) 6. Infiniti M45 Sport ($50,600) 7. GEM e4 electric vehicle ($8995) 8. Harley-Davidson Fat Boy ($16,930) 9. Yamaha YZF-R1 motorcycle ($11,299) 10. Vespa GTS 250 ($5799) 11. Segway XT ($4995) 12. Ski-Doo Mach Z snowmobile ($11,299) 13. Jet Ski 900 STX personal watercraft ($6999) 14. Rangwe 178VS bass boat ($28,530) 15. Dixie Chopper XT3300 riding mower with beverage cooler ($10,299) 16. Sub-Zero fridge full of Heineken ($5000) 17. Lifetime subscription to Playboy with playmate delivering first issue ($1000) At which point, you'd have quite an entertaining garage, if you see what we mean. Or you could buy one Cessna Turbo Skylane. ------------------------------------------------------- This is part of an article from Car & Driver. I know some of you Europeans won't get all of the things on the list but lets be serious, what would you choose? One Rolls-Royce Phantom or a garage full of the things listed above?

The list is for the more rounded garage owner.

I don't understand why the Accord is on that list? Change the Accord and Mazda into a 5 series

What the hell is a Corvette?
I'll take a driving tour of north Italy with a Pirelli girl next to me in the Zonda, thank you. Also, a dozen crates of Fruit Roll-Ups.

If I had the bankroll to afford a Phantom, no I wouldn't want any of those things in it's place.
You have an awesome point in that it would be a much more fun, "toy-filled" garage, but it's only that, a garage. Most people making that much, want to show it off. Therefore they wouldn't be happy driving a Honda Accord to a dinner. Or taking the F150 to a catered affair (cause face it, with that money that's the type of thing you're invited to). A fridge of Heinie, a Jet Ski, and an MX-5 sound awesome.... But come on, the phrase "Self Closing Suicide Doors" sounds so much better.

I'd never shell out the cash for a barge like the Phantom. I think it's ugly and heavy. I'd much rather have fun driving a stable of fast cars than drive around town flaunting my money and pretending I'm better than everyone else.

I'd get a Land Rover Sport HSV and a Mitsu FQ-400, then keep the rest, though that playboy subscription and beer fridge does sound good, think the will ship a playmate to Denmark?

I'd take a huge list of cars and a giant land with a house, rather than the Phantom. Hell, if I wanted, I could live for the rest of my life off the same money for a Phantom.

Unloved and lacking a title

I'd buy a 997 Turbo and with the left over money.... well, we'll cross that bridge when we reach it.
The Phantom doesn't entice me. Sure, it has the badge and what not but I wouldn't want to own one/drive one. Just a house on wheels, I want to have fun driving, not just waft. |

![]() I also wouldn't get the Phantom. Sure, it has presence, but I prefer having a bit of fun when driving. So I'd buy one car which drives well and doesn't look too bad - or too out of place in 'normal' places. Then I'd spend the remainder on something more sensible, like property... (Boring I know, but I don't see the point in having more than 3 cars at one time - if that!)

Currently undergoing a suspension upgrade... 1987 Toyota MR2 Mk1 SC - A project car that had Headgasket issues when I bought it. I've never driven it... yet... |
