Right it seems like a possible first car for me and my family. It seats five people comfortable and still has space in the back. Right now it seems like a good compromise between price, performance, luxury, and comfort (which is why I'm liking Infiniti so much).

Looks good, I've always like Infiniti.
However, I'd be concerned about the presence of the Nissan Murano. If it was the 4.5L V8 I'd might think differently. If I were you I'd have a good look at the Acura MDX; 300hp 3.7L V6 and 7 seats. Acura MDX: http://www.familycar.com/RoadTests/A...Photos2007.htm Ultimately it'd be what suits-you/what-you-like best. |

I always liked the appearance of the FX, but... and I know I'm gonna get flamed for this, I never liked the noise that came out of it. I always thought it sounded like a washing machine "Whrrrrr"ing away.

My stepmother has an FX45 and she absolutely loves it. She has a very spartan uphill gravel driveway that she has no problem negotiating. So far its been totally reliable, and its my understanding that depriciation isn't that bad. Its icy cool, the interior is suprisingly nice and the sat nav and luxury features are absolutely fantantastic. The whole this has an air of quality thats closer to Lexus than Nissan. As for the drive, its sporty, grippy, quick, and doesn't roll anywhere near as much as you think it would. Infiniti's really are fantastic.
However that said, I've driven it many times and its not exactly what I would call comfortable. I took a long ride in it once, and at the end you'll KNOW you had a long ride. The suspension is pretty hard (but some like that) and the engine is very noisy even at low revs (but some like that). The front is fine, but the back seat is a tad too small for full size adults; I had to tilt my neck (which was quite painful after a couple of hours) when there were 3 adults in the back (note I am only 5'10). The cargo area is also pretty small and quite high. I mean, its managable, but pretty unimpressive for an SUV. Depends on what you're looking for. Btw - the odder colors like the copper and brown the car wears REALLY well. Hers is brown and I know that sounds bleak - but it looks FANTASTIC. Have some gratutious images ![]()

I test-drove an FX35 on some bumpy Florida roads, and even with the 18-in tires it made sure to remind me that the road wasn't entirely smooth. Not juddery though, merely sporty. Otherwise it was very nice, but the engine sounds felt strange, as if it came out of a speaker in the dash rather than from the hot bits up front. Still, recommended.

I've spent time driving the FX45, and even with the redeeming feature of MORE POWAH!
it still seemed very cramped and not particularly roomy. Really more of a high-profile sporty car than an SUV with the 18" wheels and fairly low profile tires.I actually like the full-spec'd up Murano a lot more. Not nearly as harsh a ride. And if you are talking the FX35 anyway -- the power is pretty similar. If you are looking for AWD and performance and room...have you consider the Dodge Magnum 5.7 AWD? 345hp and turns all four wheels. I suspect you can take it anywhere you can take an FX, only faster ![]() Steve |

I have sold a couple of them. They have a weird engine noise like everyone has said. They are pretty fast though and handle well but they are punishing on rough roads. The back seats aren't nearly as roomy as you think and the interior is kind of drab. I would call it over techy.
