My not-so-final list...
OK, here's my list. These are the results of at least an hour and a half that could have been spent on more meaningful pursuits, but what the heck.
1. 1977 Pontiac Trans Am ? Black. With a gold eagle on the bonnet. And a cowboy hat on the passenger seat. ?Nuff said.
2. Audi RS6 Avant Plus (C5) ? It was a very tough choice between this and the BMW M5 Touring, but the quattro drivetrain won out. In many ways, this represents my perfect car ? load it up with five people, all of their luggage, and take it all up to 200km plus. Plus it has that certain Ronin thug-wearing-Armani cool; perfect for smoking douches in WRXs off the lights.
3. 1968 Mark III Lincoln Continental (dark green) ? fulfilling my own personal guilty pleasure; large Detroit gas-guzzlers that were styled with set squares. I chose the Lincoln, but it could have been almost anything from that era.
4. Ford Transit (silver) ? Like a Swiss Army knife or a coil of rope, you never know when you might need one of these. (Coincidentally, the rope and knife can both be found in my Transit.)
5. 2007 Ariel Atom ? for face-shaking fun!
6. Land Rover Defender ? in case of emergency, turn key.
7. Ford Falcon F6 Typhoon ? staying true to my nationality, and bringing in another big turbo.
8. Morgan Aero 8 - for playing at being the charming young gad-about-town that I wish I was in my heart of hearts.
9. 1986 Lamborghini Countach 5000QV ? as stated earlier in the thread, this is a car to die in.
And finally (because they will both fit into one parking space);
10A. 1966 Mini Cooper S ? for the fine handling and sheer cool factor, and (from the sublime to the ridiculous),
10B. Tata Nano ? I must confess to being fascinated with this car from the moment I read about it. It may look like a downsized Daewoo, it may be horrid compared to the other machines in the garage, but this car, I believe, is the future ? it will do for India what the Model T did in America, or the 500 in Italy. Truly revolutionary.
Just looking back at this list ? there are a lot more big saloons there than I thought! But I would be happy with the majority of the cars on this list.
