Ebates, Party Poker, man what the hell are you doing to your PC?

What do you mean? I play Party Poker on occasion, but I don't know what Ebates is. :?

You have tried rebooting your computer, right?

Un-serious answer: Get a tracking device and a leash for your desktop if it keeps disappearing :p

Serious answer: Dude you've overloaded your system with all sorts of gunk that you don't need. Especially Ebates, as cvrefugee said. I second his arguments.

Here's the description on ebates: http://www.spywareguide.com/product_show.php?id=1028

and also here: http://www.fbmsoftware.com/spyware-net/Application/eBates_Moneymaker/

Anyways it's a trojan. Use spybot, adaware, and any anti-virus you have to get rid of it.

Edit: BE SURE TO REBOOT INTO SAFE MODE WITH NO NETWORKING WHEN YOU DO THIS!!!! If it has the capability of downloading itself off the internet then you'll still have the file(s) once you've done the virus scan. To reboot into safe mode, do a start > turn off > restart and then hit F8 like crazy when the comp shuts down. It should start giving you options for reboot. if the windows logo comes on you're too late, so go back and redo it

I tried rebooting and did a scan with AVG without any results. Should I just reboot in safe mode and scan it again? What would be the difference between scanning in safe mode and scanning in normal mode?

Edit: I did a scan in safemode without networking and it hasn't found anything.

What shall I do? This is really irritating.

Run your hijackthis log file through this site

http://www.hijackthis.de/

I copied your log file unto it and you have quite a few bad software registry entries on your computer.

Oh, and changing your hard drive fluid every 50,000 rotations can't hurt either.

If nothing works, google search for money maker removal. Use trusted sites like symantec, spybot, etc.

Ok I just started up my computer and AVG found 3 threats and I tried to put them in the vault, but it said these infected programs were apart of the OS and my computer won't work properly without them, so I healed them and now it's normal. :D

I don't know why it didn't do this before, but, oh well.

Edit: I imported my hijackthis log into that site where it shows you which ones need to be fixed and I checked all the boxes where there were red and yellow X's. Is that what you're supposed to do?

Edit #2: Now a have another slight problem. All the videos I play on VLC or WMP are lagging quite badly. Same with any games I play. It's probably related to the previous problem. Any suggestions?

Yeah, you click on the ones with the yellow and red x's and click on 'fix checked.' About the lagging video, what is your cpu usage?

Check your spyware removal tools again, make sure you removed that trojan (ebates money maker). Download bho demon and make sure it isn't a browser helper object. BHO demon will remove it for you.

If you've done all that and it still isn't fixed, then check the CPU usage, temperature (with the application speedfan) and check your video drivers. If the CPU usage is high or the temperature is high, your mobo is fucked. If it's neither one of those 2, get into safe mode and uninstall and reinstall the video drivers if nothing else works and try it again.

You can try running smitrem and smitfraud, disable system restore while doing any scan. empty your temp files.

Never mind about the lagging. I just restored my system and the problem's gone now. :D
