I posted the above in the random thoughts thread a few days ago, but I found some other pictures and a video so I thought I'd make a thread.

The first police Gallardo, in use by the highway patrol in Rome since 2004 has done 140.000kms so far, the second one, used by the police in Bologna since 2005 has done 100.000kms.

This new 560 will replace the one used in Rome.

They actually use these things ?!? Wow, that's what I call amazing. I always thought these were just for show and PR stuff. Big thumbs up for that.....140.000km in a Gallardo ?? That has got to be the highest amount in the world and by far.

Good press for them and they also good for lambo for testing, they get to see what happens to their cars with high km.

I wonder if the Italians have ex-Government car auctions? I'd love to know how much the first ex-cop car Gallardo with 140k on board would fetch ...

I think that exotics performing public service would be great candidates for the emergency transporting of live organs. F*** the helicopters, just put that fresh heart in the glovebox and off ya go! By the time you get to the hospital it'd probably be beating faster than ever.

That is badass indeed. But the interior is so horrible in that colour, should have gone with standard black.

I'm really impressed that you can get that kind of mileage out of a Lamborghini... You wouldn't get that out of a Peugeot or Renault with a tenth of the power. I guess that's Audi's influence at play.

While I do agree with you, but would you honestly care ?? I would love to see the guy who does react somehow negatively:

"Here you go Fabio, you'll be driving the Gallardo at least for the next 6 months on a daily basis all over the mountain roads."

".......the interior is fucking BLUE ?!? I ain't driving that, should've gone with the standard black"

I thought the prev model police Gallardo was already being used for non-violent purposes like that.

That vestigial trunk up front is put to good use as a first-response medical platform and refrigerated box for high-speed organ transport.

How do they get these cars? Confiscated from drug busts?
