BlaRo teaches YOU how to pump your own gas

You missed out stage 16 (albeit only applicable to those of us outside of the US).

Stage 16 : Drive off, and realise just as you leave the forecourt that you've filled the (petrol) car up with diesel.

You may laugh but my local police force has run up a ?50,000 tab doing just that...

I remember some Amazing Race episode where every other contestant filled their Volkswagen Touareg diesel with petrol.

I have only seen one full service station in California. But then they just changed that section to self-serv. When I was on the East Coast, there were a majority (if not all) that were full serv (Jersey and MA)

It is against the law to pump your own gas here in Jersey.

Why would they make it illegal in those places? I never hear of fires or explosions at gas stations around here even though most people fill up at self-serve.

Full-serve exists and it's a few cents more per litre, but I never bother to get it. My mom used to for a long time before gas prices got ridiculous, and the area around her car's fuel filler is completely snatched up due to careless 14 year olds pumping her petrol.

I don't think many here go to full-serve often. 'What I hate about getting gas here is, about eight years ago they removed the locks from the gas pumps so now you need to stand there for 5 minutes holding the damn trigger. I think it's something about keeping people focused or some shit.

Anyway, I like pumping my own gas. Makes me feel manly, and I love the smell of petrol.

I think it has something to do with a guaranteeing a significant number of jobs for unskilled laborers.

That pisses me off so very very much even more this time of year... i usually use the gas cap method so i can atleast keep my hands in my pockets

Maybe its a way to prevent people from doing this

Or maybe the gas station attendants are actually robots

But since people are scared of technology for the most part, they disguised them as humans. The whole overfilling thing is because they're running Microsoft.

It's probably a way to get people to not get in and out of their cars while refueling. It may sound lame, but static electricity can build up pretty easily, and especially in the winter with sweaters and very dry air.

Thats why every gas station I've been to has a metal touch plate that is grounded to release excess static electricity.

Most of the time when you get out of the car and close the door you release it anyway (unless you drive a plastic car).

I got sick of getting shocked unexpectedly getting out of my wagon and now have a habit of smacking the body work as I get out, rather than as I push the door shut.

Really? That's the case in Iran too... it's a pretty poor country, but all gas stations are full-serve to create more jabs.

It's the same in Mexico.

I'd create more jabs if I could too. (sorry, just had to do that)

In Richmond, (BC, not Virginia) every station is full serve by law. They brought that into effect a long time ago after somebody blew themselves up.

I worked at a full serve station for a few years while going to school. We were the only full serve station in town but we actually were FULL SERVE, not just a pump the gas and take money kind of place.
Our boss was pretty old school, so every customer that came in for a fill got their windows cleaned, we always asked if they wanted oil, washer fluid, brake fluid, tranny fluid, ect. checked.
If the tires looked off we would check them, and any other thing they wanted. We sold bulbs and wipers. If they had a flat they could leave it a come back 30 minutes later.
Thats what a full serve station should be.

ummm... doesn't it say on the cap if it's diesel? D:

Hm, I did not know that. I tend to stay away from Richmond because I have a phobia if being washed away into the sea. :p
