Welcome to the discussion thread for the 2009 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysian Grand Prix, taking place at Sepang, between April 03rd-05th. The race will be 56 laps long, for a total distance of 310.408 km.
Devon is at the race in Melbourne now, and he asked me to do this thread in his absence.
Last year, it would have been a Ferrari 1-2 had it not been for this moment:
As for the timetable, this might throw up an unexpected development.
Fri 03 April 2009
Friday Practice 1 10:00 - 11:30
Friday Practice 2 14:00 - 15:30
Sat 04 April 2009
Saturday Practice 14:00 - 15:00
Qualifying 17:00
Sun 05 April 2009
Race 17:00
Since the race is late, there is a mounting chance of rainfall affecting proceedings, a chance of Malaysia being the first wet race of the season. And we should remember what mayhem there was in the opening laps in 2001...
And so to the prediction questions:
1. Who will take pole position and who will win the race?
2. Will Brawn GP maintain the dominant pace that they have shown in Australia?
3. Will the reliability bugbears keep tripping Ferrari up?
4. Which driver will be the first one to spin out of the race?
5. How many Safety Car interventions will be needed during this race?
6. How badly will this race be affected by rainfall?
7. We've seen quite a lot of overtaking being done at Melbourne; do you think the trend will continue at Sepang?
Let the discussions begin!
