We've switched webserver software for the forums. Please report any issues in this thread.

Apache giving you too many problems?
Not problems necessarily, just too much load.

Apache has a million features of which you only use like 8. nginx does those like 8 things and much, much faster.

Pages seem to be loading quite a bit faster today... is it because of the switch or something else?

Have you re-implemented the live thread thing that you disabled during the forum overload?

Yeah, all the load from sunday was due to apache going nuts..

The only problem now is that requests go in a queue for PHP to process them-- which means the more requests, the longer it is queued up. I'm looking into caching the pages, as most of the requests are on popular topics from guests.

It depends on the # of requests. There are 5 processes that handle queries. Each page takes .1-.2 seconds to generate. So do some math there :p

No and it'll be off until after Top Gear is done. It's a feature that doesn't add much but results in TONS of load. I also disabled iSpy, Xbox, and a few other features to make sure the forums stay online for Sunday.

The forums will be slow, but usable. The main site will be up with no problems after I finish the configuration revamp..

:( That is how I use these forums. Now I need to actually check the forums themselves for update.

I have to agree, it will be slightly annoying without ispy now.

iSpy is back online, but it may need to be disabled if the forums start eating it.

Whoo, thanks!

:( I love that feature....

Yeah iSpy!

I prefer the calendar.
