The Aviation Thread [Contains Lots of Awesome Pictures]

Does anyone have any idea how I could do a reasonable estimate of drag for an aircraft design?

I'm trying to settle down on an airfoil configuration atm (sweep angle, high-lift devices set-up, etc)

Reminds me more of the Focke Wulf TA-183.

What the hell is that thing anyway Blind?

Apparently they wern't too bad to fly, but had lots of trouble docking with the B-36 after flying due to how damn sensitive it was to turbulence.

Its been supercharged by NASA engineers to go into space.

Nah, that tug has scramjets on it.

That is my favorite museum in the world...ever. I could go there once a month and not get bored of it.

If you're ever in Ohio I very highly recommend a stop here. You won't regret it. A better admission price than the Smithsonian as well.

Don't they teach you this stuff in advance?! :p

I think that this book has some pretty good info on the subject, specifically estimation from historical standars. If you are doing the 120% LearJet it may just be perfect. Perfect if you have endless money. Otherwise, t-t-torrent an older edition?

Mark my words, I WILL visit that place. I need to take a road trip to Chicago at some point, and that's right along the way.

This is uni. Since when did they teach you how to do things that you need to know for an assignment?

I went there last month and spent half the day just staring at everything.

Pure awesome. Though I hope they replace the Enterprise with a real shuttle when one comes available, it looks really fake.

Eh, the downtown Smithsonian is free, the only reason you have to pay for the Dulles annex is because it's on airport grounds and the airport has an exclusive contract with a parking company that says they get moneyzses for all on-grounds parking. If they dropped the parking lot on the other side of the highway and put up a footbridge I certainly would not mind.

And yes, the USAF Museum is the shit.
