My parents are on Facebook :-o
I even believe my father opened an account on twitter to follow me, but I don't think he knows how it works :-D

Hmm... been playing Osu! for a while but forgot I still had GTA IV running... oh well, that's what 4 GB of RAM is for.

The real purpose of this post is to very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very highly recommend Osu to anyone who likes rhythm games.

That's the main thing I don't get... People are like "Well, you can get in touch with old friends" and that sounds like my worst nightmare! Really? I can have awkward conversations with people I haven't seen since the 90's and then I end up going out to lunch with them? I mean, I know I'm socially stunted and I hate people but still... I don't see the draw.

Exactly. My mother is in contact with her niece but all her niece ever talks about is how drunk she got last night, how hungover she is right now or how drunk she'll be getting tonight.

My mom got a facebook and a Twitter to e-stalk me, haha. I'm hardly actually on Facebook, though...most of my FB updates are from Twitter. Twitter = facebook without the crap (even though some of the trending topics make me lose faith in humanity sometimes).

Well, I don't get the part where people that you haven't seen for like 10 or more years just add you as a friend and then says nothing, because they have nothing to say at the end...
No, for me it's more for close friends and friends I make all over the world :)cool:), in order to keep in touch. Most of my friends are in France, some in China, some in USA and now I have some in Peru as well. Same thing for the family, I have some all over the world so I have a little blog for posting new photos, videos, stories, etc. and use twitter and facebook for the quick stuff.

In the end it doesn't cost much (I even gain some money through Google Adsense on my blog :-D) and it allows everyone to stay informed of what I do and everything.

I could live without it but why not use it and enjoy it if it's there?
 
Yeah, nah a lot of people can make very good use for it, I agree. It's just that it's at the point now where people almost assume that you use it and when they find out that you don't they try to convince you to sign up. Personally, it's nothing I would want for myself.

EDIT: As an example of my bizarre reluctance to pick-up new technologies that I perceive to be "trends": I have still never owned a mobile telephone.

I usually use Facebook to post up random articles I write and see if I can get feedback from people I know. However, once I graduate I'll most likely be deleting my account.

I made a dummy email and everything to go with it. It is a effing pain in the ass to make dummy Gmail accounts these days! It wanted to send me a TEXT MESSAGE to confirm. Screw you google. I went with yahoo. austerespants@yahoo.com It'll be amusing to see how many spam/porn followers you get. Account is Austere's whenever he wants it.
