The Aviation Thread [Contains Lots of Awesome Pictures]

I suddenly have the urge to buy an old Cessna and get a pilots licence.

^ I don't know how it is in Australia but older Cessnas are pretty affordable in the US. If you are looking into taking lessons I would highly recommend getting into part ownership if possible. It's more expensive to get started but with the amount of flying that training requires it starts saving money pretty quickly. Plus you would be flying the same plane every lesson which helps a lot when you're first getting started since each plane seems to fly a little bit differently.

Anyone read this yet:

I just finished skunkworks by Ben Rich, and bought "Yeager", which was also co-written by the dude invovled in the skunkworks book (Leo Janos). I'm on the hunt for more similiarly epic and cheap books from bookdepository.

Kajun, if I do take up flying seriously, I think I'll apply for a cadetship or get into the air force....but I'd probably wait till my income was a bit higher before considering getting a recreational licence.

^Link??

Hmmm, avgas + Baileys.

Thanks for the suggestion WillDAQ. Just bought the book :D

I remeber seeing a video of a russian airline where the pilot and stewardess were smoking pot whilst flying.
