Random Thoughts... [Automotive Edition]

I see some signs like this one:

They mean that their can be a speed camera from time to time?

Either that or if there is an itersection it can also mean there is a red light camera.

I'm not sure of the exact year it happened, but photo radar (ie, speed cameras) have been banned for quite some time.

The Nissan's coming back from the body shop today. I'm itching to see it IRL.

Edit: Bumped 'till tomorrow, the guy did some more minor fixes and they have to dry.

I certainly did, there is an ice racing school in Finland that has 3 Escorts that look exactly like that :)

Pretty sure that base version has hubcaps.

I drove one about 1300 miles this summer. Good car, horrid steering wheel.
No, it's the base model with one or two extras bolted to it. Wheels, for instance, are actual alloys. However, it has absolutely no equipment on it. Hell, it has a tape-deck, even! >.< No bluetooth, satellite radio, cruise control, or any other fancy stuff. Good, peppy engine, though.

Speaking of that scene, what was that grey car?

So today my dad bought a new car,
and it is, wait for it..

An Opel Astra! meh.

More precisely, this Opel Astra

Keeping on track of new cars - presuming (and hoping) that my dad can get the money, we should be the owners of a Volvo V50 2.0D SE by the end of the week. :D I'm only sad that I'll never get to drive it as the insurance is too high. :(

ooh new Astra looks teh hot... but is it any good...
and will Opel survive long enough to still have spare parts when it breaks down (when, not if)

It does look good inside and out, the seats are extremely comfortable and the chassis has been improved (my dad currently has the last gen Astra, and it's definetly a step forward) ?25k gets you a fully loaded one with satnav, leather seats, xenons, the lot.
